I recently updated and uploaded version 2.0 of my book onto KDP but am getting emails from people saying they still see the old version even after downloading it again. Is there something extra I have to do? Is there another URL I have to send them to?

Thanks,

Roy

Since you UPDATED and it is not a new digital book, the old buyers will keep getting what they bought. They need to ask the Zon to push the new version to them. You can request they do that to everyone but there is no guarantee they will per your request.

If someone has once downloaded an ebook, and tries to download again, they will always get the original version. No amount of deleting and attempting to buy again will change this.

If you contact Amazon yourself, as the author (use the Contact link at lower right), you can ask them to "push" the latest version to your Kindle. But they won't send out a new version to other buyers, unless you can demonstrate that you made major changes. Correcting typos and even adding a new chapter won't do it. It has to be something that would have created what they consider a "negative reading experience." Sorry.

So it's best not to upload in the first place until your book is as good as it can be. Good luck!

KDP will "push" changes to customers only in certain circumstances. Per KDP:

We only notify customers about updates if the new version corrects problems that made the book very difficult to read. Sending customers an update may erase notes or highlights they entered. That means the improvements must outweigh the disadvantages.

To inform us of significant corrections, contact us. Please provide details and specific examples of your corrections. We'll review the eBook within seven days and take action based on the kind of error:

Distracting errors. If we only find minor corrections, we won't notify customers. We will activate their ability to update the content through the "Manage Your Content and Devices" page on Amazon.com.
Destructive or critical errors. If we find major corrections, we'll notify all customers who own the book via email. These customers can choose to receive the update through their "Manage Your Content and Devices" page.
Additional corrections to critical errors. If we find more major corrections are needed, we'll temporarily remove your book from sale. We’ll notify you of the issues we found so you can fix them. Once you make the corrections, let us know. We’ll email customers just like we did with major corrections.

Well, you can email Support with a list of your Corrections and ask them to send out an email to purchasers, but for obvious reasons they are very reluctant to do this. Figure how often a million self-pubbers would ask for the service!

Better that the interested party email Customer Service and ask them to push the new, revised version to their archives. I know people who have done this successfully.

(Don't trust KDP to publish a print edition. Don't trust CreateSpace to publish an ebook. Each does one thing well and the other thing poorly.)

Good luck! -- NJ
