Since someone, be it an author or CService, keeps deleting out all of my *S*P*A*M alerts, that including added notes tried, I am now on strike.

The deleter can now deal with all of the unwanted I was knocking down.

You know, it might have been the spammer.

Good for you Donna. I've been making limited posts for similar reasons, including the idiotic moderating that often makes what I feel are sensible and helpful replies/suggestions vanish forever, making this forum marginally useless. I'm often invited to writing discussion groups where I live, and sure it gets heated now and then, but everyone gets on fine after a while and valuable lessons are discussed. Here we have a moderation system (plus a few spooks) that's almost totally useless.

As someone said, pay peanuts and you get monkeys.

Cheers

I thought of that too.
I've noticed the latest one has shown up twice (don't know why or how) and then it disappears again. That would be the new one started yesterday.
I would think that C. Service would be glad we are deleting out the unwanted.
If it is a spammer doing it, they'll keep it up.

I think I'll join you. I must have boosted your posts hundreds, possibly thousands of times, trying to get CS to do something, as well as deleting more than my share of cr*p from the other pages, just for some little **** to come along and delete them. It's a constant struggle on the best of days, without people doing that as well!

I think it's someone our side, and not on CS's side too, which is annoying. I looked at the deleted threads and on one they've deleted my two smiley face messages before going for your original post, and on the other, they've gone straight for yours. Call me suspicious, but I'm inclined to believe that's not an inexperience spammer.

So, apologies to all those of you who I know do your bit to help clear the spam, but I'm officially calling a demoralised 'time-out'. As Donna says, it's time to 'rest the wrist' for a while, and give others a chance to step up.

If they can find a better way to do it than Donna's unappreciated SPAM messages, I'll be amazed!

J

Thanks Julia!
I don't think anyone realizes how much unwanted we knocked down.
May the *spammers knock each other over with their competition.
I'll 'see' you in-between 'it'.

Well, this forum gets it less than the general questions one but it's still ridiculous to have that much in the first place.

The top forum to receive the unwanted junk is 'Account Issues' followed by 'General Questions'. This forum is the only one that gets the least of it. In fact, the night that thousands came into all forums, this one got none and it was the only way we all could communicate.

It's mainly Account Issues and General that get the worst of it, although recently they've been hitting all pages and the ones resurrecting old threads have been the biggest annoyance.

However, Voice of the Author / Publisher is the place for Donna to have her well earned rant. She's done more than most (that we know of) to keep the community clear, and the person (assuming it's the same one) that keeps taking the posts down should be ashamed of themselves. It's just pointless vandalism by someone who obviously doesn't give a toss about the community.

Such a shame. The few always mess it up for the many. Gives me an idea about a cyberforce vigilante group, seeking out spammers - not just online. Would be a pity to lose valuable input here because of idiots.

A zapper to recognize and to pulverize spammers would be a good twist (invention).

That's better, think positive. Nothing like justice revenge to satisfy the soul 😈. And readers. Now someone's going to nick the idea!

Maybe we could spam-call the 800 numbers they post?

The little dears would probably complain to Amazon, and we'd all end up modded. Zapping the spammers ISP connections, blowing circuitry would be a good direct action start.

Little did the spammers know about the day jobs of the indie vigilante group.
