I registered, provided my banking information, filled out the W 8BEN, filed it and then..... Nothing. I'm stuck in limbo. By stuck in limbo, I mean that no matter what I do, I end up back on the same page where I was filling out the information on my account. It's a Mobius strip scenario.

There was a dialogue box about minimum payment flagged but no indication of any sort I could find about resolving it.

I joined Kindle because it was iMac friendly only to find you still get shunted to using Word which I detest with a passion. I'd much rather use pages. I suspect every other Mac user would too.

Anyway, here I sit with no way discernible of moving forward, no one to contact who actually answers the questions asked.

Why should I bother moving forward with an organization that professes to be helpful yet is anything but?

This reminds me of PayPal. They accept your account and then repeatedly screw it up.

So how do I contact someone on here who understands plain English who can answer simple questions?

I do not have a Mac but wonder what you mean by 'stuck'. Is it that the page doesn't move forward? Have you tried a different server?

I don't know what you mean? Are you sure you signed up at the right area?

People use other programs than Word. I think they mention that as it is commonly known.

Others will be posted here. Hang in there!

You won't get any answers to specific questions unless you ASK specific questions. There's no point in whinging.

(Don't trust KDP to publish a print edition. Don't trust CreateSpace to publish an ebook. Each does one thing well and the other thing poorly.)

Did you check the box that asked if you were or were not a US person? (that's an official tax term). You can't finish filling out the info unless they know where you are. If you are in the US, UK, Canada, most of western Europe there's no minimum for payment if you put in your bank info.

I use a Mac too. I usually write in Nisus Writer. Pages works too, especially because it creates an ePub you can upload just fine. But you really need Word if you're doing a paperback, at least for the final steps (or at least something else that produces a .doc file and a pdf).

You can ask KDP questions specific to your situation by using the Contact link at the bottom right of this page, or broader questions (like "Is there a version of Open Office for Mac?") in these forums.

I use InDesign, but there's no reason you shouldn't be able to format a paperback using Pages. All Mac applications can export to PDF, because the PDF engine is a part of the operating system.
