KDP and Create Space

Hello all,
I am very new to the publishing world. I am near completion of my first children's book and in the beginning stages of my next. After reading many comments and threads about publishing I have been introduced to CreateSpace.

  • Can I publish my eBook through KDP and my Paperback through CreateSpace?
  • Where can people find and buy my book through CreateSpace?

In addition to these two questions I have another:

  • I have an illustrator, and I would like the majority of the page to be illustrated. What is the best way to upload my book?
  • Should I scan the illustrations and then type the words on top? Or should I use a text box?

Once again, I am very new to this and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Jackson

Yes.

Amazon. Elsewhere, if you choose Extended Distribution.

You can, and indeed you should.

Where can people find and buy my book through CreateSpace?

Opt for expanded distribution, and in addition to Amazon it will be available on Barnes & Noble and the Book Depository (which supplies books to several Amazon stores) and other, lesser online booksellers.

I have an illustrator, and I would like the majority of the page to be illustrated. What is the best way to upload my book?

Learn how to use Kids' Book Creator for the ebook. You'll want to make a PDF for the paperback, but be aware that paperbacks are awfully expensive if you use color on the inside.

(Don't trust KDP to publish a print edition. Don't trust CreateSpace to publish an ebook. Each does one thing well and the other thing poorly.)

Good luck! -- NJ
