Hello,
I hit "Publish" by mistake - actually I only wanted to save the changes I made. Now the book is waiting for review.
Whom should I contact to change the book back to draft mode?

Thanks,
Károly

Well, you can use the Contact Us option, bottom of this page. But probably just as fast to wait until it's available to you on your Bookshelf / Dashboard, and unpublish it by clicking on the little box on the right with three dots in it. Unpublish is one of the options. You can hope nobody buys it in the interim, or if they do, that they don't review it.

(Don't trust KDP to publish a print edition. Don't trust CreateSpace to publish an ebook. Each does one thing well and the other thing poorly.)

Thanks so much!
After unpublishing the book, I can update it and publish it again, right?
It's been available for pre-order. Will that mess up anything?

Cheers,
Károly

Yes, you can just update and publish again.

But by hitting Publish, I think you've ended the pre-order. In fact, you may have Amazon very peeved with you. But pre-orders are pretty useful for new authors anyway, so being banned for having another pre-order for a year isn't a serious blow.

Cool, that's good news!
The book is still available for pre-order. I contacted them, hope they'll undo my accidental change.
Thanks!

Ah, I didn't realize it was on the store page for pre-order. And you have gone past the date it can be altered?

Yes, contacting Support, apologizing profusely, and asking them to take it off the store is the best thing to do. You will be banned from the optioin (pre-order, not KDP itself) for a year, I believe. But that's not a problem. As you have just discovered, pre-order too often leads to painful mistakes, and unless you have a very elaborate and expensive advertising campaign set up, it's not going to do sales a bit of good.

No, you've shot yourself on your pre-order and probably won't be allowed to use it again...it's in the rules. When you're ready to publish, just upload the new over the old.

If it's up for preorder, all you've done by hitting publish is update the preorder file. It won't go "live" until the publishing date is here. Most of us who've had preorders update the file at some point. Just be sure you have the final file you want up there when the deadline for changes arrives, because you'll be locked out at that point.

Edited for clarity.
