And I expect the science teacher was very understanding.

Yes, he got sort of agitated...

At least you tried...

I once got the idea I could build a nuke by collecting the scrapings off luminous watch dials...but after doing some calculation with the help of one of the physics teachers, we found we'd run short of watches very quickly, even if we used every watch, clock and glow in the dark Phantom ring on earth.

However I read on the web a few years back about a US student who tried to build his own atomic reactor using the same principle, but with more advanced "breeder" technology. He eventually had a garbage can sized gizmo that was rported to the police, resulting in an entire block being evacuated while the decontamination squad moved in.

I wish I could get my hands on the instruction manual...

cheers

Ok, well, I'm a girl and I tried making a pipe bomb with my boyfriend (now hubby). There's a reason you can't get gunpowder as a minor! Our special blend wasn't 'special' enough so that was a fizz. Bummer! :P

I didn't say that boys had a lock on dumb behavior. Although I notice that a boyfriend was involved. Hmmmm.... ;)

Yes, well, he may or may not have had influence, but I could have easily said no. :P

Unless you grew up in Europe with an unexploded WWII shell here and there on the forest floor. The boy who became my husband was very fond of studying these, and so he lost hearing in one ear at the age of 14. Which ear? It's always the one next to me. Amazing case of shifting deafness...

My google search results frequently include things like:
  • how long it takes a body to decompose in a variety of ecological conditions
  • prostitution vs sex work
  • how long it takes to bleed out from a non-arterial and non-fatal gunshot wound
  • the symptoms and side effects of opioid addiction/withdrawal, and
  • locations with high rates of unexplained disappearances.

I find myself disappointed that I have yet to experience a visit from Federal detectives or even a lack van across the street. I still wouldn't blame my sales on that, though...

Oh, they're watching you all right--you just don't know it yet :) Satellite technology and thermal imaging have come a long way in the last few years!

I used to belong to several criminology groups. I don't write 'crime fiction' or 'true crime' but there were authors who did. (I was only there because of some inane need to understand serial killers.)

We did a lot of online research, and often discussed who might be watching our keyword searches.
