Was just wondering if any of you authors have ever written a scene in your latest creation, sat back and read through your just finished lines, and then thought, my God, I'm Hemingway!!!!!!......LOL

I run through a range of emotions several times per book. From man, this s@#$ is good! To meh, it'll do. To geeze, this entire thing sucks. Then back to hey, this is pretty damn okey dokey.

Is Hemingway equal to "Damn that's good"? If so I am a Hemingway.

To tell you the truth, I'd rather think that I just tied Raymond Chandler. Or Elmore Leonard.

Can't say I've donethat but I have written a scene and laughed uncontrollably for about an hour afterwards.

I've also written a scene that depressed me fo a week.

I've done that too, I think the laughing comes when I proof read and find a giant mistake that doesn't make any since then think about ...What if that got published that way. What would the reader think? LOL

Hey, I read both of those authors. Chandler is friend Worm's main man.

I was recently clearing out a closet I hadn't looked into in years (we're moving soon), and came across some old papers and articles I'd written 20 and even 30 years ago. And I had the same feeling - gosh, this is good stuff!

The sad part is that this stuff was so good that I doubt I could even begin to reproduce something like that today, as senility starts to set in. Hope I can get all my books out into the big wide world before my brain goes AWOL altogether.

yeah I've howled laughing at something I wrote...unfortunately it was a typo ("a fish came from nowhere, smacking Danny in the face..." - it was meant to be a fist). I like trying to write scenes that get people in the gut, although I did get an email a couple of weeks ago from someone who told me he read one of my books in a state of constant, um, excitement. TMI...apparently I get people slightly lower than intended ;-)
