Hi, I've read the guides on editing book - downloaded the zipfile only to find can't unzip it.
There is a tiny typo on page 2 which shows on the 'Take a Look' and looks dreadful.
Can I edit without downloading the Amazon zip file (which is what their instructions advise). I heard you can use Author Central - but I can't see how.
Many thanks

You can't edit the book from Author Central.

I make my changes in the underlying file, which in my case is an html document. I then drag the corrected file into my zip file, so it replaces the old one, upload the modified zip file, let it convert, then download the converted file to check it on the enhanced previewer. (You MUST preview the modified file. No tell what errors you introduced in the fix-up process.)

I've never downloaded the html from the online Preview. I think that's a leftover from 2007 (though I didn't really see the point even then--and I like to work in html!).

Just correct the error in the original file and re do the upload thing

Just load the corrected version of the file right on top of the old (Original) file and then Save and continue and go on and re publish the book.

NOTE:

I like to put a date code on the title page ( 6.12.12) on every version of the book file that I upload.

After the re publish your book will almost immediately update (12 hours), but the LOOK Inside! may lag behind a bit!

If you download a fresh version of the downloadable sample, you getr the version that is in effect immediately!

(You have to delete any old versions of the sample from your Kindle device first, in order to get a fresh version.)

the download sample and the Bookfile change at the same time.

the Look Inside May meander a bit before comming online.
