Death and Coffee is free this weekend and naturally it's the first time I've thrown it out there. I'd appreciate if anyone has time to give it a read and share any thoughts, or comments - or if you feel extremely generous a review (good or bad!)
Clicked on your link ... your cover is awesome. Good job! I read through the Look Inside and I can tell you have a good (and funny) story to tell. The only thing I wanted to point out was the formatting. A lot of people here will tell you that you should have a space between paragraphs OR indents, but not both. Anyway, I think you'll do well this weekend. Good Luck!!!
I disagree, terrible cover, it's like bad 90's clip art. It sounds like a fun story but I would make the summary a little longer, since all they have to go by is one sentence. Add more relevant tags, instead of one word tags put funny short story, etc..
Thank you all for the feedback. I've always been in two minds about the cover, so I appreciate the comments.
Also regarding the format. I hadn't noticed the line issues, so will definitely fix those up after this weekend. You're right about the synopsis/blurb. It is too short. Something else to definitely fix.
Thanks again - this was exactly what I was looking for (versus a story critique)
Every person who downloads a free copy of your ebook will never buy it. Every copy is one less paid sale for an Indie author. The Select freebie program is destroying paid KDP sales. Think about what you are doing.
The cover art is bit dicey, but: for the love of heaven, don't pay $3-$400 for an eBook cover, especially not one that already has a strong concept, if questionable execution.
I have a couple of cover guys I can recommend to you, if interested (I simply refer: I don't make a dime on covers, so this post is not self-interested), all of whom work for $100-$200 tops, not $3-$400. For $400, assuming photo-manip, you should be getting full wraps (Wraparounds, for print).
Also--there was a guy here, recently, who actually had a nice set of covers in his gallery---what was his name/website, anyone remember? I'm not talking about Todd Hebertson, I already use him, a newish guy? Anyone remember?
