Gravity works unless you're on the big spaceship in
outer space.

Is this an attempt at a power grab?? LOL.

I placed up my Titanic 2012 FREE today and pushed it as a FREE Ticket to ride the Titanic three miles straight to the bottom....more fun than Disney's Space Mtn. etc...Thiis is how I couched it.

I have had in this single day 3, 660 readers pick up their tickets at Gate 666 in the Twilight Zone.

it seems to have worked. The book is going free all week, taking all five promo days for this one at once. Try to put into practice what I preach.

AFTER READING the above fascinating article which could help your direction and give you some ideas if you read with attitude, you may want to be playing up the idea it is Fourth of July Week Sales Event time.

I know books are not used cars but something we can learn from used car salesmen, and they do sell cars.

NEWS all over the place is that after all these years of being the underdog ebooks have beaten out paper book sales. ??That is the truth now. That is a Failure Club moment, a Titanic moment, a What Mioves moment.

From the article --
"Barnes & Noble, which accounts for 25% to 30% of the e-book market through its Nook e-reader, has recently started studying customers' digital reading behavior. Data collected from Nooks reveals, for example, how far readers get in particular books, how quickly they read and how readers of particular genres engage with books. Jim Hilt, the company's vice president of e-books, says the company is starting to share their insights with publishers to help them create books that better hold people's attention."

Well that's interesting. If they know how many pages the reader reads, then Amazon could do something about the read and return problem we are seeing more and more of. I have said in the past, that if the reader passes a certain mark in a book, it should not be returnable.

@inkwalk. I have to thank you for all the ideas and for your candor. Also thanks to the other poster who have shared their results and ideas about promotions. I also have 3 blogs and two websites.

It's a lot of work to maintain, mbut I do love it, especially he blogging.

Pleased to meet everyone here, I'm new to indie kindle pub bing, uploaded my 1st book in April of 12', and my second book in June of 12. So far, Icahn see the merits of having many titles up, as my second book is selling five times as fast as the first---with virtually no promo. Meanwhile, I have been promoting the you know what out out the first for two months, with not a lot of sales success to show for it. I will take some of the ideas here and try them, like fixing tags and description.

Thanks again.

Excellent point M - regarding returns policy but being as I have had experience in paper and hardbound book returns....which are huge for almost evey author, the miniscule number of returns I get on Kindle is a joke by comparison, so I have never spent much time worrying about these low numbers; too busy working on pushing up the other more important numbers - sales. But I get it; returns of books costing as low as 99c is bothersome on the face of it.

'discovered recently that to get a post message to go up easier and faster on these overlarge threads, it helps to after you hit post message, go up and strike the title -- What Mioves.... and then strike post message a second time and it posts sooooo much faster.

Taken me all this time to figure that out; tells you how wonky I am....

Every so often when I begin to think I am just talking to an audience of ONE - me, myself, and I....someone lets me know otherwise; either here or on twitter or on facebook or a chat group....They let me know I am not alone for one but today gave me a great great review for my four-book Edge Series. Very nice indeed.

I am posting here for last time; will try to keep up with #2 thread alone. Gotten too cumbersome and it feels like it has become my blog instead of the thread it used to be.
