Are you allowed to open a second Amazon and/or Kindle account? I'm having nothing but nightmares with my account since mid week and it doesn't seem to be affecting everyone. I was wondering if a new account might work better. And then of course if I could transfer across acounts

Yes you can have a second account and yes you can transfer books but only if you transfer them all at once.

Individual books can be deleted from one account and republished under another account, but then you lose all your sales algorithms.

You lose all your sales or just the stats. And you can have identical information in your second account?

I tried this just for the hell of it. Have the same exact problem trying to publish? Is there a difference between collaborators and contributors? Someone mentioned something in another thread, but I think they just typed in error

Had you read the TOS you would have learned that you are allowed only one account. Duplicate accounts could result in your accounts being terminated. Read the fine print.

You cant, if you open a second account you would be infriging a legal contract

Okay - info from Amazon itself a while ago when I had the same question:

MY EMAIL TO THEM:

Hi

I have a quandary.

I write under two names, for two very different genres. Innocently, I decided it would be a good idea to create two Kindle Direct accounts for each of these to keep them separate.

Purely by chance, while searching for something else, I discovered today that I am not allowed to have two accounts and by doing so I could lose my royalties!

As this was done innocently and as both my accounts are doing quite well, is it possible to merge my two accounts without penalty? I genuinely had not realised that this was against the terms and conditions - please help!

Sincerely

<name>

THEIR REPLY TO ME

Hello Julie,

I checked and see that there is only one KDP account under the email address "<EMAIL ADDRESS>" therefore, I'm assuming that you've multiple KDP accounts under different email addresses.

Please note, you cannot have multiple accounts, only when they are under the same email address (with different passwords); you can certainly have multiple KDP accounts under different email addresses.

However, if you still want to merge the KDP accounts, you can certainly write back to us with the following information so that we can process your request:

1) Email address of both the KDP accounts.
2) Email address of the KDP account, which you want to remain active.

I hope this information is helpful. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Thanks for using Amazon KDP.

I was actually just told basically this same thing by them when I was having problems this time, although problems seem to have been corrected before I needed to use a second account - i.e. separate email accounts permit multiple KDP accounts.

P.S. I'm pretty sure though you can have multiple pen names under one account if it were just pen names you are concerned with.

You can certainly have any number of pen names you wish, although you can only have three pen names under one author central account.
