Does any one know an easy way with Microsoft powerpoint or picture manager to turn my two covers into a box set please. Or can anyone advise on who could do it please?

Not with Word. That's a word processing program, not a graphics program. It's limited in what it can do.

I've got a youtube link to how to make one (which has a link to free templates), but you'd need the free program GIMP to use it.

As to getting someone to do it, any decent cover artist can do covers like this.

Do you mind sharing that link, CWL? I've a boxed set coming up sometimes soon, and I'm decent with GIMP, so this sounds right up my alley.

Oh, okay. :) Well, I don't know how to do it in Powerpoint, but I imagine it could be done. I know some people do their ordinary covers using it. I started out with GIMP, but now use Photoshop.

Here's the link to the site, with the templates, and the link to the youtube tutorial is there:

http://aubreywatt.com/custom-ebook-covers/3d-book-cover-boxed-set-tutorials-for-gimp-and-photoshop/

I did want to say that the technique shown would basically be the same for any graphics program you used.

Find a boxed set you like, and try to get the same look. People do them different ways, so there's really no right or wrong, so long as it looks good, and the cover makes sense.

Thanks, Crazywriterlady! I had no idea it was so easy to do this in GIMP.

You're welcome, Janine and yorkiegal (I like that name, my parents had two little yappers, one has passed on and the other isn't far from going, both very old boys).

Yes, GIMP isn't nearly as hard as some people will claim. I picked it up fairly quickly, and I'd never used a program like it before. Oddly, I tried Paint.net (another free one) and couldn't get it to work for me, but GIMP seemed easy.

There are loads of tutorials around, and some books, though most I see are for the older versions. I just did the free tutes and loads of practice.
