Hi there! Newbie here!
Just laboriously converted 250 images to JPEG and uploaded my first Kindle book, and the online preview shows only a picture of a camera and a red exclamation mark where the graphics should be.
Is this a copyright protection stratagem or have I done something wrong? The KDP project says 'converted successfully' etc etc..
Thanks for your time!
Either you didn't upload the images at all or your pointers point to the wrong place. This usually happens with a Word doc. Word puts images in a separate folder, so it's not sufficient to convert to html and upload the html file, because that doesn't drag the images along with it. And you must insure that the pointers direct the software to the same folder that Word created.
It's usually much easier to upload the Word doc directly, or else to open the html in a good editor like Sigil, tweak it as necessary, save it as an epub, and upload the epub. The latter is what I do. In a Sigil epub, WYSIWYG. You see the images, so you know they're in good order.
If you want to upload html you must zip the html file together with the images (in a folder if necessary) and upload the zip file, which should then convert nicely.
