I've heard Amazon doesn't like a user to have multiple accounts. However, I want to keep my personal shopping account separate from my author account. I have a book under a pen name and a publishing company (different name) set up with its own EIN. Can I create an account using the publishing company name to publish the book? Thanks.

YES. As long as the banking and tax ID's are different.
If you buy under your legal name, that would be one account.
If you sell under (say) John Doe's Books and have a tax ID for that name, it that would be a second account.
If you run both under payment to you with the same tax ID, no, that will not work.

If this works, I hope you will let us know. As Donna suggests, you may also have to incorporate or set up an LLC. (Believe me, you don't want to incorporate! It's a continuing pain and expense.)

(Don't trust KDP to publish a print edition. Don't trust CreateSpace to publish an ebook.)

Good luck! -- NJ

I was about to try this but then wasn't sure how this would work for the Author's Page if I publish the book under the publishing company (it's set up as an LLC). Can I link the book to the author page as well?

Of course, trade books routinely have a separate author and publisher so that is how the system is set up to work.
