I was just looking at the royalty payments for this pay period. I sold 33 more books this period than last and had 26,471 more pages read in KU, BUT my royalties are $45.00 LESS than last pay period. How is that even possible? Anyone else seen this?

The reports give you all the numbers needed to calculate the answer. Sales in 35% zones, returns on the previous period, lower KU rate etc etc.

I don't believe in Kindle Select, hence not in Kindle Unlimited, but it's my understanding that the pages-read fee is calculated after the month ends. Since October hasn't ended, how can that be?

Or are you talking about August sales, for which we will be paid in a few days?

'This pay period' will end on the 29th. It will not be for sales in Oct.

I think you are confusing when we are paid for what time frames.

I'm not confused. I have the pay periods right. The money we're getting in october is for sales in August, which I have on a spreadsheet and the numbers aren't matching.

the numbers aren't matching.

You can't know that, because we haven't been paid yet, and foreign currencies haven't been converted to your local currency yet.

The pay rate is 90 days, not 60. Money earned in August is paid in November.

Actually, no. We're being paid now (well, maybe on Monday) for August.

In a few days, it will be November. We are being paid in November, for money earned in August. You said it yourself. That's a 90 day pay-off from 8/1 - 11/1. I count August, as sales I receive on 8/1 are not paid within 60 days. Sales made the last week in August would be closer to that, of course.

Sometimes you just have to grin ....

Your bank may not show your payment until Nov but the Zon authorizes payments at the end of the month.
For instance, the Zon may authorize a payment on a Friday but your bank may not show it, recognize it until a Monday. For a foreign payment, it may not show it for a day to two later.

Payment for the month of Aug is for THE month of Aug, not from the first of the month. So money earned up thru the last date of the month of Aug is totaled and then paid at the end of Oct. Say as on Aug 29 (total owed) which is paid on (say) Oct 29.

Angela is another of those who live in the Twilight Zone.

For some reason, KDP seems to attract them.

@Angela: is there some part of SIXTY DAYS AFTER THE END OF THE MONTH that you don't understand? Or have you never looked at the Help pages? Why do you waste everybody's time with this nonsense?

Why do you have to be such an ass? No matter which way you spin it, we are paid in November for the money earned in August. So Zon says 60 days after the close of the month--that is still a pay-off in November and I explained that I personally count that month, making it a 90 day pay no matter what the tos says.
I need to tell you, Notjohn, you are very rude. Being the top commenter doesn't mean much when you have the people skills of a trash compactor.
And on that note, this will be my last post here. Feel free to rip me up because I won't see it anymore. I don't have time for this drama. I've earned 6 figures a year for the last 5 five years--all from my writing--and I'm set to do it again for 2017. When you get tired of the drama, come look me up and I'll give you advice.

So if you pay your income taxes in April this coming year, do you consider your 2018 taxes paid?
