I signup to createspace to publicize my paperback version of my ebook ? it's 220 page book. its minimum price is us $27
with distribution coverage (USA/eropean Amazon store only)
My question, WHY IS MY CREATESPACE PAPERBACK SO EXPENSIVE ? 220 PAGE = FOR 27 DOLLAR? its full color, how can I lower my createspace paperback version ?

thank you

Did you choose COLOR printing?
I see that you did. That is the reason.
IF you have not clicked on publish yet, contact customer service at CreateSpace and ask if they can change that to black and white pages.

Sadly, Print on Demand isn't really competitive for anything in colour unless there are just a few pages. Even if you only have one colour illustration you have to make the whole book colour and the price per page is then many times what it would be if normal black and white had been chosen.

The only way to make the book affordable is to change all the illustrations to black and white, this is what I had to do. Though you can have a colour cover of course with a black and white book. You can upload the file with colour illustrations and then choose black and white and you will get a black and white book as a result. However, the Look Inside will, in my experience, show the colour illustrations which will be very misleading and would result in negative reviews.

Converting the illustrations to black and white can be done on many graphics programs but to do it properly you need to look at how individual colours are converted. For example, if you have a blue sky with clouds the clouds will tend to get washed out if you just remove the colour automatically from the image using the default settings. Ideally, you want to darken the blue so the contrast between the clouds and the sky is increased. The clouds will then be much more distinct in the black and white image. You can do similar things with green foliage etc. :)

It is there and is on one of the first few pages. It has been a while since I've uploaded a new book.
If you have already clicked on Publish, that option will not show to you.

Switch to black-white. You can price it at $9.95 unless something else is unusual.

(Don't trust KDP to publish a print edition. Don't trust CreateSpace to publish an ebook.)

Good luck! -- NJ
