I have gotten no where with the help desk on this.
My complaint is the suggestion to past the Author Central URL into various emails is misleading.
The URL assigned does not act as a hyperlink to bring the reader of the email to your author page.

TO do that, the reader would need to be further instructed to copy the URL then open their browser, then paste ii in to the browser.
That is NOT convenient.

I am not sure what you point is or who made the suggestion you reference. Most email programs make valid urls clickable, or you can post them with the necessary HTML.

I think you are confused.
Why would you want to send someone to Author Central where you can claim your books and make changes to your sales page?
You want people to go to your retail page for your book at Amazon.com

I think this is what you need. I copied it from a post I made in August but I verified it hasn't changed:

Also, if you want a short URL to send to people or put on a webpage, click on SHARE on your book's product page (SHARE is by the Facebook, Twitter, Email buttons, usually on the right side below the price and "buy now" button). When you click SHARE, a box will pop up and it has a short URL that you can copy and paste wherever you want to, or the same popup box provides a way to email your book's URL to people. That URL is too short to have the book name in it, but it's very handy.
