2 questions. I guess I don't understand why you're even creating an e pub? All you need is a word doc.

I've never used scriv. I've only heard that it lets you move chapters around etc. I can do that with word. Does it do anything that word don't?

> Scrivener is to Word as a smartphone is to two tin cans and a piece of string.

But then, not everyone needs a smartphone :)

This^

Word used to lock up on me several times a day. Even now, when I use Word for my paperbacks (haven't learned how to do it yet in Scrivener), it locks up. Never had a problem with Scrivener. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Can't recommend it enough.

Cheaper than Word and a million times BETTER than word. I don't know how anyone can try Scrivener and then go back to using Word. I actually bought it halfway through my 30 day trial, I loved it that much.

Scrivener is excellent for both Pantsers and Plotters.

Okay Diana... It's your fault that I stayed up till 3 this morning watching videos about scrivener! :)

I was really impressed by two ladies on YouTube who gave good explanations of how to use the software, and a lot of what it will do. I like the fact that you can get the word processor by itself in front of a background picture of your choosing, as well as a lot of the other things on there such as the folders where you can keep pictures, notes and other things.

After my wife came into the game room and asked me to put on the earphones if I was going to listen to videos that late, I told her about a lot of the things that the software does and she said she'll buy it for me for Christmas!

Now a question or 2 for you: I'm currently trying to finish editing a long novel on word, which I need to get out to boost my sales! Should I just throw a copy of it into scrivener and try to work on it or finish it then try Scrivener with my next book? In other words how long does it take to learn to be efficient with it? And will it automatically separate my chapters or what? Another question. Will it change the formatting on that document that i already have set in word?

Probably the easiest way to see the format of a Novel in Parts would be to compile the sample templet.

1 a) I do not have word (don't believe in renting software) and 1b) even if I did, a word doc would not SHOW me what Amazon's gonna do with this file until after I upload it. Which, as noted above, I have no plans to do. It's something my heir thought she might be interested in doing at some point down the road, I'm just trying to make it easier for her.

Actually, I have a Mac. Every version of Pages that I've ever used will export a Word Document (from version 1 to whatever it is now) . Which is what I've been doing since this whole shebang got rolling along. So you NEVER needed to buy Word or turn any file into a mobi, or even an epub to upload to KDP. None of that rigamarole. And you don't need the Kindle Previewer for your computer at all, because the Kindle Previewer on the KDP upload page works just dandy if you simply look and see for yourself.

BTW, any version of Apple Pages will export a file as: PDF, Word, Plain Text, Rich Text Format, ePub, and Pages '09. Although I don't recommend the ePub unless you're uploading it to iBooks.

As far as Scrivener goes (or any other app) just try how you want it to be and see if it works the way you expect it to. If it doesn't, then fix it until it is. My bundles are done in Pages. I just put all the books into the one file. I use a title page and even a color cover image to divide them in the file. And all that other jazz. They turn out fine.

And if you'd even bothered to read what you quoted (which was, ironically, my reply to someone ELSE who wanted to talk to me about his software instead of answering the Scrivener specific question I came here to ask) you might have saved yourself the trouble of offering up yet more inapplicable information.

Okay.

You wanted a bundle. You wanted a PDF. Go figure it out. It's your problem. Not mine. Not any of ours, really.

Good luck.

Considering that COTTON edited his post, I don't think he's doing either sober. 🍹🍸🍷 Or maybe anything.

He did the same thing a couple of weeks ago: posted some nonsensical rant about how evil the Zon was on a dozen or more threads, then disappeared.
