It's not embarrassing to check, I think it's good business. I confirm with anyone who tells me they purchased to make sure order was received or the download happened. I figured a lot of people were not telling the truth as well but when you have people with books in hand and you have no sale showing it makes you think otherwise. Amazon was the one not telling the truth to begin with and no telling how many of those, we thought were not telling the truth, were actual sales since they are having this issue.

The only time I've seen this happen like you're describing is with ebook sales. If the customer had an issue with their payment, we'll see it on the month to month but not in the graph. For paperbacks they don't show until they ship the order, which is why if I am aware of order I confirm with my customer. I'm still a small author with ten sales a week, so it's easier for me to track. That's why I'm concerned about the three months of no sales showing and then after this complaint they all of a sudden pick up again on dashboard.

I know exactly what you're saying. Mine shows sales. Some people just want to debate and be rude. You are correct in what you're saying, usually that applies to ebook sales.

That disclaimer is a result of my complaint. Emailing customer service didn't help until you have proof and they still have me canned responses for a month until I involved corporate. At this point its a waiting and hope your sales show up game. The ones I had proof finally appeared after getting corporate involved.

My issue was resolved with the sales I had proof of after I involved corporate. They explained it is an accounting glitch. You can now see a disclaimer on our accounts saying there is a delay in reporting dashboard sales and royalties. Since my missing sales have been reported all other sales show. I have no way of knowing if the three months prior, had missing sales because I don't have receipts from customers. This is only for paperback sales with KDP. Createspace nor ebooks were involved. Thanks everyone for your feedback.

This debate has taken a confusing turn. Every time I have asked Zon for advice/clarification on apparent missing sales figures I've been assured that everything is fine and the reports are accurate. According to some recent comments on here, there is a genuine issue with missing sales and some or all of us are not getting our due. So what the hell do we do? What does 'going corporate' with this issue mean?

Not embarrassing to you, since you seem to be shamelessly shameless, but it is to the person who lied to you. And harassment is never "good business."

Actually, most are getting no sales, which is usual, either because the book has run its course or it never had more than negligible sales to begin with. That's the hard, bitter truth for all indie writers except for the few hundred who write well, market better and treat this like the business it is.

There is definitely something going on because I've seen my rankings jump hundreds of thousands in the Kindle store but no sales.

I hope Jeff is looking into this. I would hate to think someone at Amazon tech has found a way to skim the money, shaft the authors, and cook the books to make it look like there are no sales.

Is anyone else seeing zero paperback sales today? My ebook sales are looking average, but I usually sell several hundred paperbacks a day, but today is just 0. What’s going on?

Have you ever heard of Christmas Day being on Dec 25?

Hi Julie

If your book is enlisted into KDP select, and if someone borrows your book, it rises into the ranking as it would if someone was to actually buy it. But it's not a sale and it won't show into your charts. If the borrower starts to read the book, then only will you get paid according to the number of pages read.

I wrote the following on a different thread here earlier, but it still applies. I had no sales from December 8 thru the 21st. I finally bought a copy of one of my ebooks on the 19th to see if it showed up. It did, verifying it was at least active and honest as of that date, leaving 11 days unaccounted for.. Reading other people's reports indicates similar lapses in the same time frame, so it wasn't just me. It was across the board and they still haven't corrected the book/sales reports, thus making the statement below still applicable and viable.

"Re: KDP reports issues?

"This is a colossal Ammie foul-up in progress. After years of selling anywhere from 1 to dozens of ebooks per day, I suddenly haven't had a sale since the 8th of December. Pages Read have been about average, something close to 700+ (already at 960 today) a day and Author Central (AC) has been recording ups and downs in both sales and author standing. Recently three of my books on AC have been raised anywhere from 250K to 300K as if there have been multiple sales, yet Kindle ebook daily reports have been flat. I've contacted Kindle on this issue twice and the first response was that their graphs are now accurate. I don't believe that for a second. In the second contact I cited AC's ratings and asked for clarification. No response yet.
It strikes me that Ammie should be honest with us and up-front about the situation, yet they're stone-walling us instead. The result is that they've all but destroyed their aura of honesty and trust."

NOW YOU'D THINK THEY'D AT LEAST OFFER AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT HAPPENED AND THE DURATION, NOTWITHSTANDING THE CURRENT SITUATION AND WHAT THEY INTEND DOING ABOUT THAT LAPSE IN SALES THAT NEARLY EVERYONE'S TALKING ABOUT.

With most of the people posting on this thread, especially those whining the loudest, stealing from them wouldn't even result in pocket change. It's easier for them to believe in arcane conspiracies and complex machinations than in no sales. No skimming, shafting or cooking required.
