And there are ISSUES! I'm showing free books DLed and I have no free books listed. My sales seemed to have literally crashed, and nothing has been reported on pages read since october. This has been going on for a while. WTF is amazon doing about it?
I wonder if it consequently has to do with rank, too... because my ranks for all the books in my series have plummeted along with my sales in the past week, and I had been having a steady upward climb since September, and just released the final book in my 5 book series a couple of weeks ago. It's discouraging.
A lot of people seem to be experiencing the same problems.
I am showing only two ebook sales and at 700 pages read for Dec.
Meanwhile, my paperbacks at CreateSpace are doing really good (for me).
I've also noticed that figures on the AMS report seem to be frozen for the last few days or so.
In the past fortnight I released two new books. Since I first started publishing with Amazon back in 2012, this has ALWAYS been a guaranteed way of boosting sales. Now? Nothing. No difference whatsoever. Perhaps I'm an isolated case - though judging from what I read on these forums, I doubt that - but something has gone badly wrong in the past 6-7 months and it is high time Amazon took action. Hopefully that is what is happening now.
In a (sort of defense) of this, as noted earlier, I'd guess this is the case of patches and upgrades for the holiday going wrong. A lot of companies do "pre-Holiday" work to get ready for the usual rush, ensuring everything is stable, locking things down. Sadly, they don't always go as planned, and this smells like one to me - been through these a few times myself.
My only concern is I don't see any statements from Amazon - they could really communicate about this better.
Yesterday I sent this message to customer support:
Currently on the Kindle Direct Publishing Reports page, there's the following message:
"KDP reports are experiencing issues and your sales or royalties may be delayed."
What is the issue, and when will it be resolved?
Today I received this response:
I'm sorry, I'm unable to comment on the alert message which we're showing in the reports page as we don't have any insight on that and so, I've reached out to our Reports specialist team to investigate this issue. We'll need a little time to look into this.
We'll contact you with more information within 48 hours.
