Hi guys,

Just to put your minds more at ease, all the "free downloads" I had in my reports have now disappeared and seems to have converted.

Just thought I'd provide and update and tell you guys that I am seeing some progress being made.

Any news yet Mary? Their 48 hours is up. I'm still getting the same message on my KDP dashboard, which is pretty annoying, as I started a big promo campaign last Friday having released a new book a week ago today.

A number of weeks ago, my sales graph spiked (and I mean by half a million!) on Author Central yet I had no sales (or significant page reads) shown in my reports. I reported it and got a standard response. Am still waiting for a full reply so suspect this has been going on for some time

It's a bad joke, to be honest. I don't know what on earth has happened with KDP in the past 6 months or so, but their ineptitude and indifference towards authors is reaching comedy levels.

As of this morning I have received the same response from Amazon as has been posted here by others. I did notice that the books that were listed as free units have now been corrected so that is some progress :) Sadly as other are seeing I still have the message at the top of my reports page so apparently not everything is working as it should yet. I am wondering about those authors who have just recently published and are seeing zero sales? I have a book that i was hoping to publish soon but am wondering if I should now wait to see if this is resolved or just go ahead and hope for the best.

I would like to take a moment and thank everyone for responding. It helps to know what others are dealing with and learning :)

I talked to a few customers who said they had ordered the book a few months ago and it hasn’t shipped yet. What gives Amazon?

They need to contact customer service at the retail end.

I have a bit of a flatline as well. Trouble is, when it's your first book, and you don't have years of previous data, you have no idea if it's just normal for your book/this time of year or if there's something else afoot. Sales could be disappearing, as others are experiencing, and there's no way of knowing. And you can't just say, 'Hey, why have my sales suddenly dropped to zero?!' as the easy answer is 'You probably haven't sold anything - duh!' lol.
It doesn't fill me with confidence for sure.

G’day All, just thought I’d let you know at my end (here in Australia), I’ve had the reporting error message for the best part of a week. Sales and Kindle Unlimited numbers were reasonable (for me) but since the reporting issues surfaced, numbers are almost zero. I have an advertising campaign going... just hope that isn’t impacted in any way..

This is getting utterly ridiculous now. Are any of us going to be recompensed for lost sales and revenue? Yeah, right.

It's happening to me too! I received a message from them that there have been too illegal accounts borrowing my books on KU and that l should try and review any of my marketing strategies. I don't really understand this but l guess there have been problems, more problems that involve transactions. I have tried to limit my marketing procedures for now but l don't really get why marketing my books could be a vital cause because l have been admonished that l could lose my account. I'm totally confused but l do hope things would be okay soon. Are we not going to be paid our November royalties in January because of this? Why am l being blamed for customers that used illegal accounts in reading my books? I write this to let you know that we are all in this and we should all be wary of the type of marketing we use. Please if anyone has any more update, let's know fast. Regards to you all.

I have a suspicion that this problem has been going on for months, and only now have KDP been forced to address it. If Amazon were in any way accountable, it would be a scandal.

My publish date is December 6, but my book wasn't available until December 8. I still show absolutely no data even though I know there have been sales.

Edit: I do see that the sales rank jumped from ~6000 to ~4000 in one of the categories, so perhaps the raw data is fine and it's just the reporting that is messed up. I also write software for a living, and this happens to our reporting engine also. We usually take 2-4 weeks to both fix these types of issues and deploy the fixes to our customers. Fingers crossed

Hi David,

I can say that my KDP sales have stunk since mid-summer, not just in the last couple of weeks - however, my ads have been the same and my books have a history of being bestsellers until about July of this year, when sales started to tank.

I find that I can't get an ad to run at all unless I really push the price per click up around the fifty cent mark. Even then, they run very, very slowly. During most of November and now in December, my sales are almost non-existent.

I've also had other problems with KDP AMS and trying to contact support is a joke. They just say everything is fine. I've even had ads that have run dozens of times before rejected when I copy them - once rejected because my "religious book advertisement" (my books are sci-fi/fantasy) was not within the proper parameters. The next time, an ad that had run dozens of times was rejected for "grammatical errors". I copies it and sent it back through unchanged and it was okayed.

Something big is going on and it's costing us - a lot.
