I finally have ONE new sale showing for a Kindle book. That makes THREE for the month along with a small handful of page reads.
Whoop! Whoop!
Do I think it is correct? NO.

You may be correct. For the entire months of October and November I had page reads every day (10,747 in October and 4,515 in November) along with 8 paid sales in October and 20 in November. So far in December I've sold 2 novels and had 1 read in full plus a few partial reads (for a total of only 420 pages so far in December). Strangely, my author ranking has been under 200,000 all of December and many of my novels have been downloaded onto the Kindle Unlimited program in December because the individual e-book rankings have reflected a very recent download. Either folks are not bothering even to open those of my novels that they selected into their Kindle Unlimited plan or there is a glitch in Amazon. Presumably time will tell.
I had expected December to be a banner month but instead it has been a complete dud.

I have you beat. My newest release had one sale and when the rank finally showed up it was at over 4 million. For a NEW release. In October, a single sale for a new release got me in the 50K range.

Since then the rank for the new release updated to 100K and now it's under 200K.

I think they've tweaked something to hit the scammers (specifically the ones publishing several copies of the same book each day) and it's affecting real books of course. Typical Zon. Taking care of business with a chain saw instead of a scalpel.

My last sale was the 5th Dec...same day as the sign appeared (for me down here...)

Nothing since....not even a page read.

Looks like bread and water for me after Christmas..

Is everyone outside the US? Because I did have a slow moment Nov 28, it is back to being ok-ish now. I'm seeing sales and page reads in a reasonable amount of time given the holiday season.

In the US.

They are tweaking to catch spammers. Imagine how embarrassing it would be for customers to download scam books instead of real books (Because of Xmas). That would damage their reputation and they would lose business and market share.

Earlier today my rank improved and the book is now in at least one HNR and in the top 100 of three subcategories. Hopefully there won’t be any more weird rank drops.

I am in the US.
I've also noticed that my paperbacks at CreateSpace dove to zero sales around Dec 6.
Unusual and no change.

I think it's the ad system. CPC is through the roof. No reasonable CPC max has a chance of showing up anywhere.

Well, this thread was kind of scary and made me go look at Nov and Dec to date. I see 204,381 pages read and 147 sales in Nov and 147,629 pages read and 94 sales for Dec. I'm in the USA. The sales are crossover sales since I had units in a free promo. I also see about 90 new reviews since mid November. I think reviews are slowing down as well as KENP. Everybody is Christmas shopping, California is burning...kids are out of school, snow storms arriving and knocking out electricity. Not to mention some in my corner of Texas are still suffering from the hurricane and floods and still in shelters. Slow recovery. Neither of my books had Christmas themes and it seems the boxed sets got in the way of my Dec promo. Just hoping for a better 2018.
