Book Rankings Are MIssing

Hi

Has anyone has this happen before?

I am running a promo with bookbutterfly which was a big decision as it is not cheap, and logged in this morning and my book page count has dropped from 418 to 222 and also the book is not showing any categories or rankings? It is still on Amazon but doesn't show for any of the keywords.

i've emailed KDP support but they often take ages to reply and I am really worried as I have this promo running with book butterfly which obviously isn;t going to generate any results if the book is not showing.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Sam

The Zon has had various issues and all is not corrected yet.
Are you trying to view your book on the Zon from a different country site than you are in?

Nothing new ( in the last few months). When a book’s rank starts dropping too fast, they remove the rankings until they can determine if it’s legit or from bots. Keep an eye out for an email from KDP. They have been known to catch innocent authors in their net. Bot users are smarter than KDP or at least they are more motivated to stay three steps ahead.

Diana, with most browsers you can hit the back-arrow button a couple of times and recover your post (use mark-and-copy to get the text). Then you can try a new post, putting in *'s in any long suspicious words. For any post that's critical, that will work. :(

Diana-- You used the forbidden word date*rmine. (Your post did however show up eventually.)

To the original poster--not having a rank doesn't affect your promotion. People are still getting the email telling about the wonderful book you wrote with the link to buy it. Because a promotion is specifically about your book, rather than about "use some keywords and see what comes up," the keyword issue shouldn't matter either.

Book Butterfly campaigns are setting of the fraud detector, something they know full well and should be telling new customers about.

They make "guarantees" to customers about sales and rankings. When it comes to advertising no one can make any guarantees unless the fix is in.

Their guarantee is the usual consumer type, don't get it and you can get a refund.

This is just great. I really looked into them and they seemed legit. I've emailed Amazon straight away this morning and no reply as yet, and I am about to email book butterfrly and ask them what is going on as well.

Generally speaking they are legit, but this is a known problem and they refuse to even warn customers about it. Because their promotions do work they cause spikes in sales, these spikes activate the rank manipulation warning and get your book rank-dumped. BB seems to think this is not their problem in any way.

Bookbutterfly have been great, and are as concerned as I am. Hoping we can get the issue resolved. I certainly will not sleep tonight.

They've known about this problem for many months now. If they were really concerned they would tell people this is going to happen rather than just keep tossing more authors off the cliff.

HI
I don't know really what else to do. I have emailed Amazon, and tried to phone as well. Book Butterfly said they would get back to me and help, what else can I do. If there was something I could think of I would be doing it. Trust me, I doubt I will be sleeping tonight - I feel truly awful.

thanks, I'll have to remember that one.

but it's not about keywords. Rank (top 100) means visibility that she isn't getting because of rank being stripped.
