Never, ever reply to reviews--good or bad. Just don't.

If you respond, you're likely to be hounded by 1-star reviews ad nauseum. Don't ever go there. Ignore it.

I just saw the review and read half of the first page of the sample's body, and the reviewer is correct. There are many, many grammar problems. But in your defense, the reader should have expected the poor grammar quality of the work by the blurb. :)
You got two reviews from what looks like your friends and you got an honest but bad review from someone who isn't. If you feel you must respond, which you probably shouldn't, you should only agree with him, apologize, offer something as compensation, and let him know you will deal with the problem and then deal with it. To respond, simply click the link "comment" under the review and that's all that's to it.

The procedure is very obvious. Just look at the bottom of each review and click Comment.

As the others have said, here and on your other thread, commenting on a review is usually a bad idea. Also, remember that these are not professional book reviews. They are customer comments. I don't let another shopper's opinion stop me from buying something that looks good to me, and I'm sure most other people don't either.

The best way to "respond" to the review is to fix the grammar issues raised by reviewer, perhaps, also, the formatting problems not mentioned. It is at least an honest review and your only verified purchase. The other two...well, let's just say the lack they ring of authenticity, especially the one who hadn't received the book but gave it five stars because "only good person can write good book." Suspicious five-star reviews really do more harm than any number of one-star reviews.

I think he stopped reading this thread's responses cause he responded to the reviewer with, "Thank you so much for your honest review. I respect it.. Please contact me on my email I'd drviralshah2017@gmail.com so I can have conversation with you... "

Ok, now let's all email him and confuse him by pretending we're each the reviewer -I'm kidding, get out of google now! Who would have thought a forum could be so much fun and used as a temporary way of avoiding work? Ok, sure, most of you all did, fine.

I thought the most idiotic thing anyone could do was respond to any kind of review...and then he posted his e-mail.

Just add a disclaimer: beware poor reviews or 1 star reviews will be met by the wrath of a voodoo priestess.

I'm taking back my original response because it was sarcastic, and I don't like when others do that. I'd rather be honest.

I only read the blurb from the OP. Sorry OP, but it's loaded with grammatical errors, and very poorly written. And you have a "Dr." attached to your name, which IMO makes it even worse.

I really think that Amazon should start screening books for grammatical approval. A simple Grammarly-like check that would accept or refuse blurbs and books based on the number of mistakes wouldn't be all that difficult to employ, and would IMO keep some of the integrity in book publishing. I know the cream will always rise to the top, but in a few years there is going to be so much unreadable material out there that I think people are just going to give up.

Don't know how many people have seen the movie Idiocracy, but it's happening. And I think it's really sad.

You have a camera in your monitor? Put something over it immediattly. There are places on the internet where people will meld a picture of a face with a rude body image, and do it well, for minimum cost.

Viral,

Following up on Duane's comment:

If you have grammar issues, but do not want to use a professional editor (I know I can't afford a good editor and cheap ones are, well, cheap), I suggest you use something like Grammarly.com and possibly AutoCrit.com to fix the grammar issues. You have to look at each recommended change and accept or reject the change, but it is worth it. (You can accept all, but DO NOT DO THAT.)

I use Grammarly and you could not rely on it for an automated review of a manuscript (which is likely the problem with a stricter grammar review). It makes as many bad suggestions as good. -- Not to say it is a bad program, it's awesome. You just have to review every recommendation and will likely reject about half of the thousand plus it will give you in a 100,000 word manuscript.

I have used Grammarly once and it was ok, but I had only used it to proof my book before sending it to the proofer/s to make their life a bit easier. It does an ok job, but did seem to miss a lot of errors from my many rewriting booboos, like simple verb tenses in longer sentences where I changed the sentence's flow, and a lot of its recommendations seem to come from outer space. It seemed I was rejecting many, many more recommendations than I was accepting. But I never used the full package since I never ended up buying or licensing the full version because I began having problems with my OS soon after installing Grammarly, and after uninstalling it a couple of weeks later, I reasoned it was Grammarly causing the problems because it went back to being fine after that. The problem could have been an id10t problem on my end, but I didn't give it much thought afterward since it didn't seem worth the effort. I have never tried AutoCrit.com, but I do like the name.
