How in God's name could anyone stay awake long enough to read through that thing?

I was enthralled from beginning to end. There were so many points where they suddenly changed tact, from acting like a victim, to calling out trolls, to blaming others, to casual racism. It's akin to observing an automobile collision, in which one would be unable to avert one's gaze.

A lesson in cyber security: Never ever pay money to the Nigerian prince or his many relatives. The apology email sounds like it came from any of the many trolls we have endured over the years on this forum when they are/have been confronted and exposed. They probably never paid back anyone and they are sure to return under another guise.
Buyer beware.

I could of said that, but than I pacifically chose tact, since it was a too pronged attack implying there lack of it.

This is a truly amazing blend of repetitious grovelling and emotional blackmail. It sounds like they outsourced this reply no less than their marketing, but this time to a local talent: a starving student of journalism, perhaps.

I still don't see why they had to shut down and fire all the wonderful people who've worked so hard over the years etc. etc. Caving in to vitriol and gossip doesn't sound like a good reason. There are plenty of aspiring writers who would not spurn them even after this blooper.

My guess is that after the numerous independent complaints of spamming that they got hit with threats of legal action via CAN-SPAM. That is an expensive proposition and likely shut them down, unless their corporate parent took preemptive action.

That certainly makes more sense than death of a broken heart.
