Closing my account PLEASE HELP!

I no longer wish to sell my Ebook online and have tried multiple times to close my account but something is going wrong because I'm still being charged. I deleted my Ebook from the site approximately 2 months ago. I live in New Zealand and I'm having issues trying to call and no one is responding to my emails! Can someone please help me? Thank you so very much. Barbara

1; you will never be charged by Amazon to sell your books.
2; it's the holiday season, so things might take a little longer. How long ago did you send the emails? Amazon doesn't have a phone number for authors to call, but they might call you if you press for it.

As Elodie told you, Barbara, Amazon does NOT charge you. Ever. I don't know who or what you got involved with, but something is badly amiss here. Just use the CONTACT US button at the bottom of the page, and reach out to Amazon. As she also pointed out, as it's the holidays, you may not get the typical instantaneous response--but you shouldn't get NO response, either.

Good luck, but...you need to sort out who the hell is CHARGING you, and for what. It damn sure ain't Amazon.

If you are being charged, you are being scammed by some other company.
Contact Customer Service below at 'Contact Us' with your problem. When they reply, reply TO that message. Do not start a new message.

I finally found a way to send an email and they (Amazon?) said they are closing my account and will reimburse money to me. My eBook was in KDP Kindle and I was being charged $45 USD per month.

I finally found a way to send an email and they (Amazon?) said they are closing my account and will reimburse money to me. My eBook was in KDP Kindle and I was being charged $45 USD per month. How do you sell eBooks through them without being charged? It's a very confusing website to me and I think it makes it more difficult since I live so far away.

You must have signed up in the Advantage program. A web search will explain what that is.

To sell a book on Amazon that you wrote, you publish thru Amazon for free.

Somehow you got turned around with the varied programs.

How do you sell eBooks through them without being charged?

Barbara, at the top of this page I see links for Bookshelf | Reports | Community. You are presently posting to the Community of self-publishers, okay? Click on either of the other two. You will either get a Sign In option or you will see this message:

Your account information is incomplete.
To publish a book, you will need to complete this. Update Now

Either way, you can set up a KDP (Kindle Directly Publishing) account. You will have to enter your home-country tax ID number and other information in order to be paid. There is no charge -- none. I don't know who you got tangled up with, but it either wasn't Amazon or it was some other program entirely.

(Don't trust KDP to publish a print edition. Don't trust CreateSpace to publish an ebook. Each does one thing well and the other thing poorly.)

Sounds the most likely scenario.

Perhaps OP was given some wrong guidance and was regarded as publisher selling to Amazon.

Alternatively, she may have signed up to a Market Place Pro selling account.

Barbara, if you're still around perhaps you could tell us exactly what the email from Amazon says when they confirm your account is closed. Folk on here should then be able to tell what you were signed up to.

Giving this situation some further thought, I think the fee OP was being charged is much more akin to a Market Place selling account.

Barbara I sell from New Zealand and the posters above are correct. You should not be charged a fee and only pay a percentage to Amazon when a book sells. You should get a reduced tax rate of 5% in the US deducted from earnings. The only other expense I incur is optional and is payable per click on advertising.

Contact as advised above. In my experience they respond quickly. Hope this helps and please reply if I can help further. Cheers

Here's the 2 emails I received from them:
#1) Greetings from Amazon Seller Support,

Thank you for contacting us today to close your selling account.

Your account has not been closed yet; we are glad to inform you that the following actions have been affected:
• Your seller account has been downgraded to an Individual selling plan. You will no longer be charged the Professional monthly subscription fee.
• Professional selling fees of 229.95 USD have been credited to your account.
• Your listings for marketplace CA, MX and US have been set to inactive. Your listings will no longer appear on the website.

Once you have completed all the necessary actions for account closure, we will be happy to assist you with your request.

Note: If your seller account is closed, you will need to register a new account if you decide to sell on Amazon again.

#2) Greetings from Amazon Seller Support,

As requested, I've started the process to close your Amazon seller account. Once your account is closed, your marketplace transaction records will no longer be available.

Note: This won't affect your Amazon buying account.

If you decide to sell on Amazon in the future, you'll need to create a new seller account.

**It's very frustrating! I would like to sell on Amazon but thought I had to pay a fee.

Thank you, Lyn! Yes, I've definitely taken a wrong turn somewhere. If someone could provide me with the steps to relist my eBook that would be great!
