After loading chapter 1 successfully I load chapter 2 to fine out chapter 1 has been deleted. I reload chapter 1 to fine doing so deleted chapter two. I repeated again and again never having more than one chapter completely loaded. Am I doing something wrong? This is my first book....

Why are you uploading a chapter at a time? You should be uploading the whole book.

Each upload simply replaces the previous version. It doesn't add layers.

I don't know why you should think to do it chapter by chapter.

We kinda got that idea. When you upload, you need to upload the whole book. If you have your chapters in separate Word files now, you need to collect them into one file. There used to be a Word feature called, I think, the "Master Document" feature that allowed for chapters, etc., to be in separate files, but this is a complex and reportedly buggy way to do things.

Also, you'll need to educate yourself about certain concepts in e-book publishing. Get a copy of Amazon's free e-book, Building Your Book for Kindle. Follow the instructions on using "styles." "Styles" is basically defining paragraphs to be laid out a certain way instead of manually laying out the paragraph using indents and spaces. It also allows you to control leading and also to automatically build a table of contents. Now the book does have some age on it, so when it tells you to upload a "filtered html" file, forget that. Upload the docx file. If you've followed the rules, that should work fine.

For what it's worth, I did the filtered HTML the first time and it worked just fine. However, using the docx for ebooks is much simpler.

As others have pointed out, the idea is to upload a BOOK. It not only has chapters but a title page, a table of contents, and almost certainly a copyright page. See the third post on my blog for more.

(Don't trust KDP to publish a print edition. Don't trust CreateSpace to publish an ebook. Each does one thing well and the other thing poorly.)

Good luck! -- NJ
