Struggling to find the answer to this question.

I would only want to use the first part of my book to make the videos from, around 80 pages on the subject of consciousness, but am I allowed to do this, would it break Amazon rules?
I only have my books with amazon and I'm in KU.

Thanks for any help.

You want an audio preview. I was going to do that but I had so much trouble getting clean takes I gave up. It's promotion, so if you can do it well, it can't hurt.

As mentioned, if it is just an advert then no problem. But 80 pages! How long is the book? :)

Thanks for your replies.

No I don’t want an audio preview.

No it’s not for an advert.

The book is 202 pages, the reason I want to do videos is because I've had more than one person tell me they like how I clearly detail consciousness in the first part of the book, which is about consciousness, quite a popular topic and increasing in popularity due to advancements in A.I.

The first part of the book is scientifically factual, I’m very science orientated, and as I, like many others, have a fascination for the subject, I’d like to put my pennies worth in the consciousness pot.
I’m planning on doing a few videos reading what I’ve written in the book, and then continuing with other information that was too extensive to put in that book.

Of course in the process I will be promoting the book, which is the 2nd one I’ve written.

So I need to know if amazon will allow me to do these videos or whether I’d been in breach of the rules about only having the book available on amazon?

Thanks for your help.

You should probably contact KDP support for peace-of-mind, but since it's a sample I would expect it would be alright and on top of that it is a different format from the Kindle ebook. But that's only an opinion and not fact as I have never done it.

It's always fine to have an audio version of your book whether or not you're in Select (KU). So no problem there.

It's not an ebook, so there's no problem. (It would be even less of a problem if you weren't limited to Amazon. I'll never understand why people do that. You don't WANT sales on Apple, B&N, Google, Kobo?)

But I'm with RJ. I think 80 pages is going on far too long. Twenty pages is more like it.

When I gave readings, I liked to chat with the audience -- comment on what I'd just read. It kept people from falling asleep.

(Don't trust KDP to publish a print edition. Don't trust CreateSpace to publish an ebook. Each does one thing well and the other thing poorly.)

Good luck! -- NJ

Hi Tony

80 pages from a standard book takes about 1h30 to read. Nobody will listen to such a long monologue :)
Even big fans of Andy Kaufman up before that :)
