Is the Author Copies Beta activated? Cause the page works and the instructions say:

Go to your Bookshelf and select the paperback you would like to order.
Click on the Order Author Copies link in the ellipsis ("...") menu.

but the Order Author Copies link does not appear. What this only for certain books or did I miss that this isnt a option yet? Thanks.

It is a beta program.
You get what you get.
Many of us do our paperbacks at CreateSpace which is also Amazon.

First of all, I ordered 18 copies of my books at full price (in various orders) before I ever saw an option to order author copies through KDP. I just found that option on Monday under the ellipses. I ordered multiple copies. They went into my regular Amazon cart, but I didn't check out right away. Then the next day I got a message that they'd been removed because I hadn't ordered within 24 hours of putting them in the cart. I can order more, but

I didn't see the option to order an author's proof until Monday either. I don't know if the options were there from the beginning, and I missed them, or if they were added after I ordered 18 books at full price ($11.99 each). I wish I would have seen that perk from the beginning.

I have two paperbacks and revised both of them recently. I really don't think the author's proof or copies were options when I revised them last week, but I could be wrong. I am glad that I found them this week!

For the longest time, author copies/proof copies from KDP-print were available only to a few. (I got a message that I was one of the select few, which was funny because I'm with CreateSpace all the way for paperbacks, not KDP-print.)

It was just this week that the option became available to everyone. There's an announcement about on the right side of the main Community page. At least you'll get royalties from the paperbacks you ordered at full price!

I can get author copies (and proofs) in the UK now. This only appeared a week or so ago. It would be interesting to hear what other users of KDP Print can see if they click on the three dots button on their bookshelf. :)

Edit: I've just seen the announcement referred to above:

"We are excited to announce that proof and author (wholesale) copies are now available for all publishers on KDP.

Proofs allow you to review a physical copy of your draft paperback prior to publication. Learn more here.

Author copies are copies of the live version of your paperback that you can order from Amazon. Learn more here.

When you order copies of your own book, you pay just the printing costs plus shipping and applicable taxes. With this new feature, KDP proof and author copies for the UK and the rest of Europe are printed and shipped from within Europe – an improvement for authors who previously used CreateSpace."
