I submitted my entry for the "The Hindu Lit for Life KDP Wordsworthy Contest" on 26th January this year. I have made my ebook with respect to the specifications mentioned in the contest guidelines and I also did include "thehindulfl" as the keyword. While my entry appears on the kindle store, it still does not appear in the contest node, amazon.in/kdpwordsworthy/ . On my observation, I guess that the selectors have mistook my book for a longer one, seeing its 40 page length (as suggested by kindle). I need to tell them that I had stuck to the 5000 words limit of the contest and the extra words pertain to the miscellaneous pages like title, copyrights, content pages. Also, I did use a wider spacing with 1.5 as the intent (in kindle create for pc software) to make the story appear easily readable for the readers. All these have made the book length go longer. If it needs to be shorter strictly, I can edit the spacing and bring it around the desirable 20 pages. Since there is no kind of a helpdesk there, am pathetically in need to clarify my query.
I would copy and paste that keyword from the contest terms to make sure you entered it properly as one of the keywords. I'd probably put it on a line by itself too.
I doubt they count pages or worry about pages, but they probably have an automated bot that counts the words in your document. I checked several other stories that made it onto the list and none of them have any front matter and probably lack any back matter. They go from the cover image straight to the story. I know you are trying to be proper with copyright page and all that, but for the contest, I'd strip out everything except the actual story. Once you win or not, THEN you can add back all the proper book trappings.
If you have further trouble, contact KDP and ask about it. I'd get started on that ASAP so you can get your story approved and in before the first selection begins.
Hello.. I did remove all the extra pages and now its only the story with 4995 words.. I ve uploaded the manuscript as an update. Will mine get listed now? Or should I delete it and republish as a new one?
I suggest you use the Contact Us link at the bottom right of this page to make sure you've done all you need to do in order to get your story accepted. Make sure to give them all the info like ASIN and what you have done. Good luck!
Your book is now appearing under the Wordsworthy node. Did you do anything specific or did it appear on its on? I am having a similar problem, I had submitted my book https://www.amazon.in/dp/B079M9WYPJ last evening and it is not appearing in the node. Also if I search in the Kindle Store then it is on the 2nd or 3rd page. How can I increase the rank given that I am using the full name of the book itself
I have a similar problem like you had. My entry is not coming up in amazon.in/kdpwordsworthy/. Please let me know if you did anything particular to get the book in the list.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
