Hi folks, I'm considering the paperback option. Does this mean that I'm giving Amazon the rights to 'any' hard copy versions of my book? I currently just have an ebook on KDP and use a print on demand service for my hardbacks and paperbacks.

Any advice would be much appreciated

No, you are not giving up any hard copy versions.

Thanks Donna

So Amazon isn't going to pull me up for selling my own paperback version outside of their platform?

Another question:

I recently added a subtitle to my ebook, I don't want to do the same for the paperback version. Will Amazon's interface cause issues with this?

You can (and should) sell the paperback on Barnes & Noble and the Book Depository, which in my experience are the major sellers outside Amazon. To do this, of course, you must publish through CreateSpace. In addition, CS will get your book on four Amazon stores where KDP Print books don't go: Canada, India, China, and Australia. Those are served by third-party marketers, mostly the Book Depository (which weirdly is also an Amazon division).

(Don't trust KDP to publish a print edition. Don't trust CreateSpace to publish an ebook. Each does one thing well and the other thing poorly.)

No, they don't care. Even if you used CreateSpace or KDP-Print they still wouldn't care. If you're not in Select, they don't care what you do with your e-book either...just don't underprice them.

You can't make such changes to a print edition because your ISBN is set in stone. They should still remained linked on your sales page. If unlinked, you'll need to have KDP link them manually.
