Now that KDP are servicing both kindle & paper books when will Aussie authors be included with our banking. We have to pay $25 per check we receive whether rhe check is for $5 , $500 dollars or more. So if we receive more than one check from various countries we could be paying big bucks & in many cases more than the checks are worth. How can this be overcome?. I am happy with KDP but unless there is a solution for us down under we may have to move our allicances to another company, something I reallly dont want to do. I was usimg Payoneer which is attached to an American bank but they are the worst communicators one can find. Recently I was away from my publishing for quite a while due to illness & when I returned I changed my phone number, email server & password & could not contact anyone at Payoneer so eventually had to call it quits. They just do not contact customers nor answer any queries. A bad state of events totally. So now where do I go? Has anyone got any suggestions? Are there any US banks who have a branch in Australia? I would love to hear from anyone who has ideas.
I suspect the problem is with the Oz banks, since it doesn't exist anywhere else that Amazon does business (well, maybe in China, but it doesn't sell KDP titles there).
You might look for a better bank, raise the amount at which Amazon writes the check, or investigate Payoneer (a debit card that spoofs a US bank account -- there are fees, of course).
If you want to advocate for something, you might do better advocating for all payments to be made in the same transfer. Amazon has begun doing that for the 1099-MISC tax statements; it ought to be possible for the individual stores to be combined. (Of course, the paranoid publishers would then begin to suspect they were being cheated in a new way, sigh.)
(Don't trust KDP to publish a print edition. Don't trust CreateSpace to publish an ebook. Each does one thing well and the other thing poorly.)
