I have a book priced at 2.99. I selected the 70% royalty rate. It shows up that way for all of the Amazon sites except the US site--where it is calculating the royalty at 35% (and shows the figure as $1.05 of earnings on a $2.99 book--that's indeed 35% and not 70%).
On my admin page, the 70% button is selected.
I emailed help and actually got an answer! They said the book was still publishing, and once it went live, it would resolve itself. The book is live--the issue is not resolved.
I'm having a variation on your theme. All my books are over the 70% threshold and are all saved as such.
However on several occasions a book is sold at 70% twice in 1 day then sold at 35% at the same sales prices. I can't understand where the trigger to drop to 35% is coming from. On a couple of occassions a book is sold at 70% and then 30 minutes later sold at 35%.
There's no logic and no reason. Either the books are 70% or not, rather than a mix.
I'll hunt around for Amazon support.. thanks for your post this has triggered me into acting upon this as it has been happening for a couple of months.
The 70 percent royalty is limited to a certain subset of countries, all of them in the northern hemisphere. If anyone outside the US, UK, FR, DE, ES, and IT stores wants to buy an ebook, he must shop at the US store, and the royalty is 35 percent. All clearly stated in the FAQ (probably more clearly than I have stated it!).
when I open my 6 weeks previous revenues, I see 35% royalty rate on some of my sales of a novel priced at $2.99, 70% on others. I don't understand why this is. For example, my novel DIVA sold one copy on 12/17, and royalty rate was only 35%. Also, this did not show up in my current sales figures. And sales for the previous 2 weeks were listed at 70$ royalty.
Is different royalty rate the result of sales in different countries? I thought all countries paid same royalty rate now. Does anyone know?
I'm having the same issue. It did occur to me that the person who bought my book and for which it is showing my royalty rate as 35% might be outside of the countries in which the rate will be 70%. How would I go about ascertaining if that is the case or if Amazon is just defaulting to giving me 35% despite my being enrolled in the 70% program?
