For those who are panicking about receiving payments into your bank, banks won't process payments on a weekend or a bank holiday. Banks also don't generally credit you with a deposit until the end of a day. A bank may also "hold" a payment, especially if this is the first time you've been paid by Amazon, and they want to be sure it's legitimate. So, as others have pointed out, the time to start panicking is several days into the new month.

Also, your Payments Report may continue to say "pending" for several days after a payment is credited to your account, especially from non-US Amazons. This has happened to me.

Recently I've been receiving payments that are roughly 5% to 10% less than the normal 70%/35% for my US sales. (Amount varies with each payment) I am the author and publisher. I sent a note to Contact Us several days ago and as yet haven't received a response. Any ideas what this might be due to? Thanks in advance for your help. Your comments online have been very helpful to many of us, cdalebrittain.

This is odd, Fred. Hope you find this answer--usually it's best to start a new thread with a new question.

Are you not in the US? If so, the difference may be a difference in currency exchange. Look at the prior-month report (the one for May just came out) and see how much you made in dollars. Then, toward the end of next month (July), when you see the "payments" start to pop up, see if the US dollar amount is still the same as in the prior-month report (it should be). Then, when the money actually arrives in your account, look at the exchange rate which will be posted there in the Payments report.

If the pound is stronger against the dollar than it had been, a UK author selling the same amount in dollars in the US store will see a slightly reduced payment in pounds.

The other issue could be taxes, if you are in a country that doesn't have a 0% tax treaty with the US (the UK does, Australia does not).

If none of this applies, then Amazon is your only source of info. If you haven't heard from them in a day or so, follow up. Be clear where you live. Good luck!

I don't have an answer, just some possibilities. Do your payments reports not line up with the prior-month reports? Might your bank be charging some sort of fee?

When you follow up with Amazon, be very explicit about what you're seeing, on which report. Give examples. Good luck!

PS Are you relying on the 6-week reports? They are really not reliable.

Hi, I've mentioned this in other posts but the difference between EFT payments and wire transfers is not generally understood. There is a difference and wire transfers are likely to incur largish fees, unlike EFT which is often free. In countries where EFT is not an available option, a wire transfer is not a good alternative and it is probably better to opt for a check/cheque. To understand the difference just ask Mr. Google, and then check what options are available for payment methods in your own country under the My Account tab.

Well, end of August should have been the first of my payments and I was looking forward to receiving my first deposit. My book went live on June 3rd and during the month (according to the transaction report for June) I had 12 books sold (11 in the U.S. and 1 in Canada) and just over 7000 KENP page reads. Based on the payment policies, I assumed I would see my first royalty deposit 60 days after the end of the sales month. That would have been August 29th. As of today, September 2nd, I have not yet seen anything deposited. EFT is setup with one of the big U.S. Banks so that shouldn't be an issue. Since this is my first payout, is it normal for there to be a delay? Is that Canadian sale slowing things down? I'm not worried, I'm sure it will all get sorted out, I'm just wondering if this is a normal first pay scenario.

If there's a "first time" delay, it's usually due to your bank. A lot of banks are surprised when a customer is suddenly getting a deposit from Amazon.

Assuming you showed royalties earned on your June prior-month report, and you haven't just very recently set up your banking info, you should indeed get paid this week (though Amazon suggests waiting 5 business days before panicking). Look under Reports at the "payments" tab. What does it show? If it says "pending," then the money will probably appear next week. If there's nothing there, contact Amazon directly (contact link at lower right) and ask nicely. Good luck!

Thanks, I did confirm that I had royalties earned on the June prior-month report and my banking info has been setup since I created the KDP account in May. Payments tab was showing No Payments Found so I figured I stop in here before just panicking.

I have had over thirty thousand pages read in my books in a month and a half does that mean I am doing well and do I get any money for it. I have the three of my books in kdp as a new writer. should I take them out of it and try selling them separately or keep them in kdp and wait to see if I get paid for it.

Yes, Stacy, having 30,000 pages read is very good. And yes, you will indeed get paid for those pages-read. It's a little under half a cent a page. Your pages-read will be worth maybe $130 (you won't get it all at once, as you're only paid for one month at a time).

Reread this whole thread carefully, as it will answer your questions. And it's better to start a new thread with a new question. I almost didn't notice your question, as this is an "informative" thread. Good luck!

Tell you what - to keep my MS short - I can tell the diff between just "Sales" and "Payment" as concepts. If there were sales then any money - in any way -
shall follow maybe long after... due to techno stuff we now know. I assume any business as pure "customer" goes to "Amazon" but Author stuff goes to... other places. I hope
this is not annoying. My semantics have gotten better.
