The paperback edition and Kindle edition of my novel, Jasmine: Ascension, present justified margins in the published formats; the sample provided to read free via Amazon, however, does not. Also, the only time I double spaced between paragraphs was during a scene change. For example, when Jasmine is sitting at the bus stop following the auto accident. Also, my character does not share the particular ability that Johnny Smith of the Dead Zone possessed. I apologize for defending "sell" as a colloquialism, and I retract any further comments as I see the community feature tends to be rather ruthless.

It doesn't make much sense to me to post here asking for opinions and then acting defensively when others respond.

I see what Reba meant about Word having a default space between paragraphs that must be reset. Thank you for pointing that out. What books have you published? How are your sales? So far I have 5 star reviews on Amazon, and a 3.89 star rating at goodreads.com (I have no idea how it got there) but my sales also are nearly nonexistent.

Thanks! I assumed this to be the case, but as a fist time writer I wasn't sure. I suppose if your book falls into the great category it could rise on its own, but then again, maybe not. I like the writing but the other stuff gives me a headache. I know, I know, it's important too.

Over all good advice but you're not correct about writing a series. Especially in Sci Fi and fantasy. Series dramatically out sell stand alone novels

That sounds good in my case. I have "Jasmine: Ascension" available now, but book 2, "Jasmine: Pathways" (working title) is in the works, and I hope will increase my overall sales.

Oh Dolores. You have to learn the basics of writing first. Those multiple exclamation points look really bad and are not professional at all. And the sample page I saw was full of bad formatting, extra spaces, and more.

Sad but probably true. I am delighted when I discover a series worth reading. But I've only discovered two of them: Gabriel Allon and Jack Reacher, and they're both such wild sellers that I doubt that my devotion has contributed anything to their success.

Good luck! -- NJ
