can anyone please advise me? I have just got an email to say that my account has been closed!

As I don't know why I checked my books, I had removed all the old plr ages and ages ago my daughter and I had been having fun writing some short stories other books were some business advice in another pen name and then some books that I had paid a researcher for on a particular subject (these books are downloaded, borrowed and bought all the time)
so I have no idea why it was terminated!

my books were selling and being borrowed and climbing very nicely
I am stunned
I did not get any paid reviews as this is a no no or anything like that
:( I am so sad, I have emailed them to ask why not sure if i will get answer so if anyone has any advice?

I also went through the https://kdp.amazon.com/self-publishing/help?topicId=A2TOZW0SV7IR1U to make sure that I had not violated terms

from memory in my bookshelf books that were published and then blocked were plr then found out your not to have plr books so removed them even though they had be almost entirely re-written if they didn't remove my books I removed the rest of the plr and went with books that I or my daughter had written ourselves so really puzzled over this really sad and looking for help to get my account back

I've never dabbled in PLR, I write all my own material, but it sounds like the issue might be with:

some books that I had paid a researcher for on a particular subject

So that researcher is the author of those books? Do they still own the copyright? Could they have published them elsewhere without you knowing, and then made a case to Amazon that you were breaching their copyright, even if you acted in good faith believing you'd paid for the publishing rights?

If it was me, one of the first things I'd be doing would be contacting that person and asking them if they can throw any light on it. Politely at first, of course :)

what they had done for me was just research they don't even know I turned it into a book after I spent a week going through it and added the other interviews that I had done.

One would think that if this was the problem that they would ask me or just pull the book like they had done in the past with those plr books - when they pulled them I searched to find out why and then found out about not allowed to use plr anymore so I pulled the rest not them.

the silly thing is i am more than happy to work with them on the offence/offending book but I have no access to my bookshelf any more so can't even see in there what to pull

rather unfair that I am not given the oportunity in an honest situation
I hope they do eventually reply to my email - it is not as if I was going out of my way to do something wrong lol

I do know it is not the formatting over the past 18months I have become the expert at this ha ha ha

I just called Amazon about this and being as they have no way to contact KDP except by e-mail (big surprise there) I insisted that the manager I spoke with, give my phone number to them so they can call me to explain why my account has been blocked when I have violated NO rules.

IF my work is freely available on the web, it is because it has been stolen from me and posted/uploaded, etc without my knowledge or permission.

This is ridiculous and I WILL get to the bottom of this.

I just got the same email. I had spent yesterday evening repricing my books, and went back in today to make sure I hadn't missed any and found my account blocked! I checked my email and found a bunch of emails from amazon telling me I had been published, and then one telling me my account was being terminated:

Due to repeated Content Guideline violations with respect to books you have submitted through your Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) account, specifically submission of content that is freely available on the web, we are terminating your KDP account and your KDP Agreement effective immediately.

I have never previously gotten any email complaining about submitting content offered elsewhere. All my books belong to me, and were written by me, and uploaded by me. I own the copyright to each and every one.

It's infuriating that there isn't even a phone number so you can call customer service. I don't want to say how much I make through royalties, but what AMAZON earns off me is enough to pay for at least two, and likely three full time employees . The least they could do is have a contact number and not cut me off without so much as a question!

Dumbthing...

Here is what I did and it might help you, as well if you are a victim here, as I am...

Call Amazon's customer service number during regular business hours. If you call after hours, you'll get a call center and they CAN'T/WON'T help you.

Ask to speak to someone in the Kindle department

When you get the department on the phone, ask for a supervisor and explain the situation.

They will tell you to come here to file a complaint. Explain to them that posts on this forum are NOT answered by anyone at KDP and neither are e-mails sent to their customer service e-mail answered in a timely manner.

Insist (strongly if you must, but be polite) that THEY (the supervisor) contact KDP for you (they'll tell you that they have to do so by e-mail because not even they have a number they can call for them) and have them contact you back.

I left my number and also a suggestion that they call me ASAP or I will be calling back on Monday.

If enough of us call, maybe they will stop randomly choosing people to victimize with no warnings and no explanations. I too DEPEND on my royalties and not having this income will really hurt me.

Good luck!

cristinaaquilar...

I just checked and only ONE of my Kindle books has been removed from circulation and what do you know...it was my best seller, 100% MY work, has been on the market for a couple of years now and is based on MY LIFE.

Unless someone else is impersonating me, HOW have I violated any of Amazon's laws?

So let me get this straight...your books were selling well, mine were selling well and dumbthing's were selling well, it sounds as if they are singling out authors who make a lot of money, which is totally INSANE.

WHY would you bite that hand that feeds you? We are making them money (at least I am) and yet they remove the one book of mine that is making the most money.

I'll be calling again, tomorrow (ask me if I care that it's St. Patrick's Day) to get to the bottom of this.

Good luck to you...

Not that it matters, Random...but my books span everything from kids books to Horror to Occult but it appears that they have singled out only one of my books to be removed, yet have terminated my account.

I'll be calling today...again...and will continue to until they fix this.

I have just confirmed that my all my e-books have indeed been removed and I show no Kindle books at all on my Amazon page.

I will be checking to see if anyone else is having this problem too and simply hasn't reported it.

Purchased License Rights? That's probably not totally correct, LOL.

Basically, it's all the ebooks full of articles scraped from websites or written and packaged up, that you can purchase a license to resell as your own content.

Which thousands of people have been doing for...well, since the internet really got going and people realized they could make money online.

So it's all regurgitated content, and Amazon doesn't want to sell it.

wow so many of you have had your accounts terminated as well?

I am begining to think that something has gone wrong with a bot
I am aware that they have bots checking on certain things which is why I tried so very very hard to play by the rules
my account is that important to me!

I had a very sleepless night and have been too down to come online for most of the day today

I can't ring the USA and havent found any numbers for the UK if anyone knows feel free to post it in this thread.

@gldrummond plr means public legal rights (you may use the material and depending if there are any restrictions call it your own give it away sell it or rewrite it)

awhile ago and unfortunately to this day many suggested that it is ok to use this others say so long as you rewrite most of it you will be ok
like I said when one of them was pulled I did research and found out that they don't want this type of material so I pulled my others unfortunately you can't delete them so they stay forever in draft lol
for the past 6 months I have been doing short stories and doing very well - really enjoy it so much fun so I KNOW the same as others have also said it is not freely available on the net unless someone downloaded it and rewrote it! lol

I am hoping to get some answers I have writen to the email address they said to and the one that sent it and the contact from the help in my now closed bookshelf.

I am trying to stay positive and polite but it is so soul destroying to see your work flamed like that really sad really frustrating the rug has been pulled out from under me and can find no solutions as yet
