Hi! This site really needs a "known issues" page. If there is one I haven't found it so please could you point me there?

I don't know if this is normal or not, but a lot of us are having trouble with the Bookshelf showing that our book is "Publishing" instead of "Live". I know maybe it needs time to catch up, but it is a bit disconcerting, especially when the sales reports aren't reflecting actual sales. Since I'm new to this, I don't know what is normal and what isn't. Could a tech person let us know what is going on? Thanks so much!

(Just so you have info, I uploaded and published mine on the evening of April 29th, it appeared on kindle about 24 hours later. Thanks!)

They sent me an email that said the following:

Hello XXXX,

Unfortunately, your both titles "XXX" & "XXX" has been delayed in publishing. Our technical team is aware of this problem and are working hard to fix it as soon as possible. We're very sorry for any inconvenience this delay may cause.

Thanks for your patience while we fix this problem.

Good luck with that.

You mean an automated response won't work for every situation???

I emailed them and they got back to me - at that point, I wasn't sure if it had fixed itself or if I had just been reading it wrong, just from not knowing any better. Anyway, it's good now :)

I have finished a 81,000 word novel and have considered KDP. However, it is not enough for me to get published. I can print it at a local printer and give it to my friends. I do not see a mechanism in the Kindle presentation that assures me a measure of exposure as a new author. As of now, my only marketing plan is to print about 100 copies and personally deliver them to independent book stores in the Detroit area for the owners' free review and consideration for placing some copies on the sales bookshelf (Detroit is a subject in the novel). I am seeking a better marketing plan, i.e. broader coverage, and would like to see KDP as one viable option. What I read in the blogs suggests that this matter is an issue for many new authors.
