Has anyone else experienced this? After some work colleagues reported having bought my book, I checked my sales reports and there was no change in the figures, So being very new at this writing business, I waited until the beginning of May, then gifted a copy of one book to someone. I checked the sales report the next day, and nothing. The sale wasn't shown. So I gifted a copy of a second title to the same person. The first sale showed up late on the night of the day after the sale, but the second sale still hasn't been recorded on my sales reports and it has now been 5 days!
Makes me wonder just how honest is the amazon system. Smashwords does at least generate an automatic email every time someone purchases a title so gives you visibility of each transaction as it occurs. Amazon - we have to just take their word for it - and in this case, their word is pretty empty. Fortunately I do have detailed paypal receipts identifying each transaction and title involved.
People don't have to use the gifts to buy your book. Obviously, the friend who you gifted it to did use it once.
As far as other saying they bought it, if no sales are showing up, they didn't buy it. Maybe they downloaded the sample, maybe they were going to buy it and forgot, but told you had, maybe they have no intention of buying it.
Sales can take hours to show up, but they do show up.
The second gift won't be able to be used. You can only purchase a book once for your kindle. If you try again you will get a message that says our records indicate you already purchased this book on (date). So your friend, if she already redeemed the first gift, will not beable to redeem the second. That being said, I have had the same thing happen this month, (people saying they bought a book but it not reflecting), and have heard the same from other people. Also the latest collection I have uploaded has been in review for 2 days now. I am still waiting to hear back from Kindle Support.
Try this: go to your Bookshelf and click the "Prior Six Weeks Royalties" link. I have been agonizing over what I thought to be a "no sales" weekend until I clicked this link. Somehow, the "month to date" link is not calculating the sales.
I have sales showing up in the 6 week royalty report that occurred in May that are not showing up in the "this month sales report" for may. Something odd is going on. Also the sale price is not showing up correctly in the 6 week royalty report. Up to this point (may) the reports have been fairly reliable.
If you are looking at units sold during the week ending 5/5/2012, there is no easy way to calculate how many of those sales occurred in May because the first 2 days of that week (Sunday 29, and Monday 30) were in April.
My "Prior six weeks royalties" is showing nada, nothing, zip, zilch. But I have hundreds of dollars in royalties for that period. Everything is screwed up. One of my two books has even vanished from my bookshelf.
Yes...it's happening to all of us. No updates in three days. I wish Amazon would post announcements when glitches or delays occur. If you look at their "Announcements" page there has been none in five months. I'm sure they're getting a lot of questions. I would think it would be easier on their customer service resources if they either posted an announcement or sent a broadcast email to all publishers.
Wish I could offer a solution, but all I can say is "me too". Not that I'm making tons of sales either way but ...6 months sales show week ending 5/5 at 33 sales of my novel although month to date record shows 7 books sold. Additionally, the 6 months sales show week ending with 33 sales but multiplying that times my royalty (% of my book price) shows THEIR tally to be off by about $50.
It's on my to-do list to contact Amazon directly to ask about this. I'll post an update to this thread after that.
Don't get me wrong. I really appreciate the opportunity to publish and with Amazon. I am getting leary of all of Amazon's glitches and not being able to rely on their sale's reporting. It seems very unprofessional and wacky most days.
I'm experiencing this, too. I actually deleted two of my books on my Kindle and in 'manage my Kindle' and then re-bought them. They are not showing up in my sales stats. Any others having this problem? Anyone have the email to Amazon KDP? TIA
Wow, eleven days, that's a long time, well for me this is the fifth day. I've noticed that some people here say that although they've had no sales reported, their ratings are still going up.
that is not the case with me, my ratings are going down, maybe not as fast as they normally would. This is all rather strange. I'm glad to hear I'm not alone.
