I wish to delete the Introduction which doesn't serve much purpose and begin with Chapter one of the story.
Do i need to make the edits to the current book or can I submit a fresh copy without Introduction and then request Amzon KDP to withdraw the earlier version?

You can do whatever you want. You're the publisher. The way to do it is to upload the new version over the old one. In a few days, the old one will be gone.

I wouldn't start out with just Chapter One, however. You need a title and a professional look at the front, but again, it is up to you.

The proper way to make ANY change in your book is to simply re work the book file in your computer and then Upload it to the KDP Bookshelf Tight on top of the old bookfile

Then re publish the "Original" book and it will become the "New book" seamlless ly in the Kindle bookstore!

Note the On line LOOK Inside! may take some time to change (It is supposed to change in about 12 hours but sometimes takes a Week.

Also Be sure to thouroughly Preview your newly uploaded work in the Online preview And/or In your computer using the Downloadable Previewer/Kindle for PC/Mac

In Case Andre and JT didn't make this clear, do NOT hit "unpublish" on your current book. Do NOT creat a new title on your bookshelf. This will cause you problems with duplicate titles

You not only CAN delete the intro--you probably SHOULD! Digital books are not the same as print editions, and it is tedious beyond belief to have to page through copyright information, dedication, acknowledgments, preface, introduction, etc etc before getting to the meat. Plus you're wasting the great platform that Look Inside makes available to you, probably the best sales tool that you have.

You might consider recasting the Intro as a Postscript and putting it at the end of the book, which will increase the amount of your book that is visible on Look Inside.
