So I decided to change the categories of my book to see if that would actually get me some sales. After a reviewer said it read a little like YA I decided to label it as such, but finding no such category I picked "juvenile fiction" on Amazon's listing. Now I see under the "search in similar categories" section at the bottom of the page it has "children's books - science fiction". It's no worse than reading a Stephen King but its certainly not for little kids. I'm worried it'll get lumped in with the likes of Roald Dahl and I'll get angry reviews from parents asking why there's so much death and violence in the book they ordered for their seven-year-old kid....
Anyway, my question is, are juvenile fiction and YA different, and how do I get it listed in the YA section?
I noticed that, it was weird because Twilight is in children's section, love and romance or whatever it's called and there's age groups as well...I felt like my book felt within a certain age group but the only genre I could choose was juvenile, and this has been the past few days, I don't think there's anything to do about it =/ erm...I just put young adult as a keyword and chose a different cat.
It's a shame that the genres you can only pick, some don't appear. Such as fantasy > paranormal...that isn't EVEN pickable when I use Amazon, wth? Anyway, erm, sorry I digressed
Yeah, I wish I just pick Sci-fi - dystopia, but it doesn't exist. I think I'll just leave it until someone complains. To be honest, at the moment a one star review would be a blessing, because at least that would mean someone had (probably) read it ...!
