Just wondering if anyone knows if someone has published a screenplay here?
It is completely in the screenplay format, but I think it is still a fun and interesting read. Not sure if it has been done or how I would format it.
It is in proper Movie Magic 6 format now so would take some work to figure out how to make it work in Kindle mode.
Just wondering.
Thanks D

Take a look at Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. If it worked for JK Rowling it should work for you.

Yes, I've published a collection of my screenplays as a book on Amazon. I've sold exactly ten copies in a little over a year.

You could try looking on Amazon for screenplays. Not a great thing to try to make money off of, but you could put it up and see what happens. (I need to add this to the list of stuff newbies want to get rich off of.)

If it is for a popular film, it might have a market.

Only if you own the copyrights to the screenplay and/or the movie.

The point was, actually, if the screenplay is not for a popular film, don't waste your time. The readership for screenplays is already low; the demand for unproduced screenplays, nil.

I guess I wasn't clear, the screenplay is mine totally, as a n original story, I hold ALL the rights etc. Just wondered if anyone else has put up an original screenplay and what reaction they might have had?
Of course, it cannot be judged as a popular film until after I sell it and make millions on it. LOL

Unfortunately, after you publish, you will not be able to sell it for the same reason that producers and studios will rarely look at a screenplay presented to them outside their regular channels: if they have never seen it, they cannot be sued by the aggrieved screenwriter claiming, "Hey, that was my idea." It would be a good idea to file a copyright claim with the CO before publishing...if you need to expedite the registration prior to publication it costs an additional $580. Some also suggest registering with the WGA, but that is merely an added expense and does not enhance your legal standing. The copyright not only allows you to pursue legal action, it also helps to protect you from suits brought by others who claim your screenplay infringes upon their own screenplays, published or not, produced or not. From this, you might infer screenwriters are a litigious lot...you would not be incorrect.

I think you did very well. Lots of self-pubbers would kill for selling nearly a book a month.

@OP: yes, there used to be a very bright guy here who wrote screenplays. I never read one, but I hugely enjoyed his posts. Alas, can't remember his name!

Good luck! -- NJ

You can pitch film scripts to Shooting People UK film Network. It's a site where producers, directors are all looking for screenplays. Not necessarily Hollywood bigwigs, but all screen writers usually have to work their way up with demonstrations of their work on screen. A lot of filmmakers there are also trying to get known producing shorts. It's a subscription site, but offers a lot of filmmaking resources and contacts. Not just UK. I've no connection with them, so it isn't a sales pitch.
