Kindle Not posting sales

I have several books that were selling several per day up to May 26, then, no sales posted in US or UK until June 12. There has been one sale since then.

I've contacted Kindle 20 times via email and get a canned response.

Any others noting this?

what to do.

It's a shame that we're left with this community thing when Kindle should offer true support and a phone number.

This "Lack of Support" really worries me especially when Kindle has the gall to notifiy us that WE are responsible for knowing all of these things so that our books can sell.

I wish there was a phone number to call. My sales are not posting either. I have had many people that are now reading my book that they purchased over the weekend. They have the book already and the sales are not posted to my reports! I wrote and also got back a canned message. does anyone have a number?

I have not have any sales posted since the week ending of June 2, 2012, I thought I was just failing at sales. I hope this matter gets resolved soon.

I suspect the "matter" is KDP Select, and the ensuing glut of "free" books made available by amateurs who hope to get EXPOSURE! and maybe even get NOTICED! so their Cinderella dreams can come true.

When people have fifty or a hundred free books on their Kindle that they're wading their way through (no doubt deleting many of them after the first page or two because they're crap, but no worries! There will always be more) I suspect it crowds out folks who might, you know, want to earn some money through their hard work.

Then again, the availability of free music apparently did no harm to the music indust . . . oh, wait!

We are all being played for suckers, and are in the process killing our own golden goose. But Amazon is doing well. So, there's that.

**But Amazon is doing well.**

Well, is it? I don't doubt its gross is up--it usually is--but I wonder if ebook revenue is up. You can't make money by giving stuff away, at least not in the short term. (In the long term, you can bankrupt your competitors.)

WSJ today notes that Barnes & Noble's gross on its Nook project (including the devices as well as the ebooks) was actually DOWN in the first quarter. That's scary.

WSJ also notes that B&N is still claiming 25-30 percent of the ebook market. That's hilarious. I'll bet it's more like 10-12 percent.

Heh. Mostly just venting, notjohn. However, I expect Kindle sales continue quite briskly, and it's on Kindle sales (I suspect) where Amazon makes most of its "ebook" money. Kind of like a computer hardware manufacturer who gives away a bunch of software along with it to boost sales.

Remember, in the past, Amazon has sold ebooks for LESS than they paid for them -- from major publishers! -- just to boost Kindle sales. Now, they've got an army of suckers folks willing to just GIVE their product away.

Anyway, like I said, mostly just venting. But you can infer that I've seen my own sales at Amazon trickle to nothing since KDP Select came about, and I doubt it's a coincidence. In fact, I'm doing far better distributing via Smashwords ("better" being relative, of course.)

Know we've had our differences, but good to hear from you and hope all is well.

I have to agree with the free books problems, but it's just my opinion.

I have already decided not to give away any more free books and to remove my them from KDP Select.

The plethora of rubbish quality books going for free is damaging both for authors and the kindle's reputation in my opinion.

Have the people in this thread who mentioned that their sales weren't posting (by which I presume they mean weren't showing in sales reports) had this problem solved now? I only ask because I have this problem too - books are selling, I know that, but there is no change in my sales report...

I am having the same issue. My book has gone up and down in the charts over the past five days (the biggest climb being 10,000 spaces) and it has supposedly done this without selling a single copy. Frustrating to say the least!
