I am working on a book that has several jpgs in it. Outside of covers, I have never put pix in any books. Now, has anyone used any different program to insert the pix, ( I am using word office pro...)
And, IF it comes out the way it should, in the preview, the pictures seem to move up or down on the page.
Is there a special program I should be using? Or should I just give up? Yeah, like that's going to happen!
Word Doc format seems to work ok. You might not get the pics in the exact spot where you want them. But insert them close to the text where you want them and use the format pic options to see the various ways the text will be displayed around the pictures. It may appear weird if you look at the output as an HTML document. So try to view it as an epub. This is why it's so good to use the different retailers, so you can see how your pics will look in various devices. But use the .doc format and INSERT the pictures. Do not copy and paste them.
Ooh...thanks for reminding me about setting the layout!
The last two books I uploaded, I used PDF. And parts were missing...amazon said to use mword.doc and they went in nicely. I will try your suggestions. Thank you!!
You might try, once your pics are loaded into your Word doc properly, to save as "Filtered HTML" and run that file through Mobi-Pocket (free.) In Mobi, you import the HTML file and each graphic. Then (different place) you import the cover. If you made your chapter headings Heading 1, just put H1 in the TOC field and Mobi will generate one for you that readers can use their 'go-to' buttons on.
You do all this only once. When everything is right - do a build, it creates a .prc file which has TOC, all your graphics in it. Upload ONLY this file to Amazon: download the new mobi and see if your pictures look better.
Only real way to ensure pics look their best is to fool with them in HTML. Loads of free easy HTML tutorials out there - you only need the image part. Check it out.
