I read the small article on how to do it. but confused?

what are they referring to "HTML file"? is it the starting page, in my case cover.html?
what are they referring to "HTML file 3"? is it the page03.html in my case?

this does not bring up choose "Compress 2 Items"

first, i can't select the html file because i have no idea what they are referring too.
second, if i hold down shift to select my image folder the fonts folder gets in the way.
third, can't click on the HTML file 3 because i have no idea what they are referring too.

even if i follow directions but with other files, it only gives the option to compress one file.

this is my directory

content.opf
cover.html
fonts (folder)
images (folder)
innercover.html
page01.html
page02.html
page03.html
page04.html
page05.html
page06.html
page07.html
page08.html
page09.html
page10.html
page11.html
page12.html
page13.html
page14.html
page15.html
page16.html
page17.html
template.css

any help would be grateful, thanks.

Most KIndle editions are one html file--mine are, at any rate--though I think others do it differently.

Assuming that your "pages" are actually chapters, and that all the html files togehter constitute the book, then I suppose you would zip the whole batch of them together.

If your Mac doesn't have an archiving utility, you ought to be able to download a freeware or trial version from t he internet.

Try this:

1. Download Kindle Previewer from http://www.amazon.com/kindlepublishing
2. Drag-and-drop your OPF file onto Kindle Previewer.
3. Preview and then upload the .mobi file that it creates.

This will give you a single file to upload that you can test before uploading and be assured that the formatting will not change upon upload. The other option would be to zip all of those files together and upload that zip archive.

thanks mrlasers,

i did get it to work.
when does the book become a book and not a document. when it gets the azw file format?
i did a book the same way with the mobi end tag and weeks later the cover was blank.
thats when kdp dev team told me it was a doc file and not a book yet.

what do you think?
