I actually have a co-worker reading a copy of one of my books bought from Amazon in Kindle format in early June, yet my sales figures show zilch! So...I emailed a complaint. They say I haven't sold ANY copies this month! So...I PERSONALLY buy a copy of one of 11 novels I've Kindled, sent it as a gift to a friend. Got an email verifying sale and note deduction from my credit card for the sale. I STILL HAVE NO SALES IN REPORTS UNDER KINDLE!

Now I'm getting leery...and have printed a copy of the Officers and Directors of Amazon in an attempt to search out their email addresses. Something FISHY is going on!!

It does take a day or so for a sale to show up, that may not be the case though. Have you got any response from amazon, other than a form letter? If caught they will say it was a computer glitch, I have found there is no way to really talk to a person that will or can help you at amazon. It seems to be a closed to getting anything straightened out a amazon. Once they say something they will not go and look, all you get is a form letter. In your case you might get the sale to show up.

Until your friend actually uses that gift to purchase your book and downloads it, the sale won't show up.

Also, it does take sales a few hours to show up. I think someone mentioned that sales no longer show up until the purchase has cleared.

I looked at your offerings. The only thing fishy is your books.

The covers are enough to make anyone run away.
The mechanics of the prose - via Look Inside - are not much better.
Did you hire an editor - if so, get your money back.

You are NOT selling because no one wants to buy.

The truth can be brutal and I expect flames - because outrage is easier than education.

While this account is new - I am not. If you are going to threaten Amazon senior leadership there's no telling what you might do to someone who calls you out on your bad books and lack of understanding of how this whole process works.

@ jamesat52 Are you talking about Ronald R. Hanna' s books? James? The covers look fine to me, and outside of them being paper book's and the print show's a little small, with some blank space's/page's. point out to me what is wrong. Him being new, he probley didn't know that it take's a day or so for his sale's to show up. And the format is a little different than a paper book.

The covers I saw all had a black woman on a busy background with some poorly chosen fonts. Shadows & It's All In the Game.

I am VERY aware of the differences in eBook vs. real book formatting.
BUT, all bold body text is a real formatting nightmare (Game).

Formatting issues aside, this doesn't change the poorly written material inside the book.

It's possible the book was bought by reader X, who then loaned it to reader Y, under the Kindle owner's lending library program. Another person can borrow the book for 2 weeks. I know of at least one website out there where readers can sign up to lend Kindle books to each other. I suspect that's where your co-worker found your title.

As for the other book you bought, the person you gave it to can refuse it, buy something else from Amazon, and charge your credit card for it. That's unfortunate, but it can happen.

Buy a couple of your own ebooks and see what happens. Wait a week and if you are not satisfied, email Mr. Jeffry Bezos. Do not expect a reply, because you won't get any. No one does. If dissatisfied enough, go to Smashwords. There is a general exodus from KDP/Amazon.com to Smashwords.com in progress. Good luck!

Hey, that's not true about Jeff Bezos never replying. I sent an email to make a suggestion and his office emailed me back a specific not form reply within the day. My request was for AMZN to automate the author's ability to 1) notify buyers of a revised version of a book and 2) to be able to detail the revisions if desired as well as 3) give them how-tos on getting the update free. Got a very nice response from his office. (Do one-way rants really require a response?)
As for smashwords, I can understand an author wanting a one stop shop for numerous formats/outlets. Still, Amazon sells a boatloads of books and from what I can tell, you don't have to choose if you don't want to. Or do I have this mixed up?

I stand corrected. Awhile back I emailed twice about a spite review, without a reply, and a friend sent two emails about getting seven spite reviews within a few hours by a non-reader, without a reply, but recently I emailed again, and did get a reply. FYI I do not rant, I am always very polite.

Perhaps when the time comes that you get a really vicious, completely wrong technically spite review, and you ask that something please be done about it, you will understand a little better where I am coming from.

FYI I have been with Amazon.com a long time. I used to sell print books here before there were ebooks. I have only one suggestion, which is that vicious untrue obvious spite reviews should be removed. Outside of that, I love Amazon.com.
