Hi

I have published five books in Kindle since I started, and the individual pages are still there, but when I search for my name I always find my books. I searched 10 mins ago and found nothing, but when I did it just now I suceeded. Help!

On a different note, how do you set up an author's page?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

In order to set up your author page, you will need to log into Amazon's Author Central. There should be a link to it from your email, from Amazon, confirming that you have successfully published.

Are you sure they don't come up? Or they simply don't come up near the top?

If you search for words in the title or description, your book will be there. But they will be #17,487 in the search results, or whatever. Not all of them can be at the top of the results. If your book was placed at the top, I'm sure the other 17,486 authors would complain.

There does seem to be a method by which search results are ranked, although I doubt very much that Amazon will tell you what it is. But the most obvious method to increase your book's spot is to make sure that the keywords that people will search for are prominent in the title and description.

Also, the following tactic requires a lot of patience, but it does seem to work to a certain extent. Do a search for the keywords that are most likely to be used by prospective readers. Then, go through the search results and find your book down at 17,487. Then, click on it. Keep repeating this process.

This makes your book appear more relevant, and it will slowly move up the search results. Of course, actual sales seem to help even more.

If you have a fiction book, then this is probably not worth the bother, unless you think there are people searching for a book about a particular subject matter. It probably works better for non-fiction books, because people are likely to find such books by searching for relevant keywords.

Other people remind you to add tags for your book. This is easy to do, so I would recommend it. However, as far as I can tell, these words aren't used for general Amazon searches; they are only used for people searching specifically for tags. But again, it can't hurt, and doesn't take much time.

I see the same issue. I search for my name with middle initial and I do not fined the book. Without middle initial I get another persons bookswith my name. I get it with the title. I have completed the Author page and added all the tags allowed and search words. Not sure what else to do. Fully realize that all of us can not be first but not at all seems unusual like something is missing somewhere.

That answers one question - but here's a weirder problem.

I set up an author's page, with seven books - one CreateSpace, six Kindle. Half the time, the Kindle books don't show up at all. Does anyone know why this happens?

Thanks

Chris
