I read this on Hot Air and found it interesting. I haven't read the books in question, so I have no comment on its validity. I do know the trilogy is a massive success, from the chatter. What do you all think? Just curious.
Her review has no merit for me. I'm not even a huge fan of this series, but phrases like, "Whips and chains may excite Rhianna, but I don’t find them to be indicative of a healthy relationship."
Legitimate criticism of the overused phrases, the fanfic beginning, the scary stalker tendencies of Christian... I get that. But her criticisms sound like personal issues to me. And at 21 is she really trying to tell the world what people want in a relationship?
Plus, she asks where are the Rhett Butlers of the romance world? You mean, Rhett Butler, the bootlegger who enjoyed keeping company with prostitutes?
I agree with you. Actually, to be quite honest here I'm rather sickened by the vitriol that is aimed at this author. Ok, so she's not the best writer in the world, but my goodness she had an idea, which was unique and she's made a lot of money. I haven't read the book, but I actually applaud her. She fed an obvious 'need' maybe and she hasn't set out to hurt or insult...Some of my friends adore the books. I guess it's what ever rings your bells.
She must be crying all the way to the bank. Wish I'd thought of it! I read yesterday that she's sold over 2 million copies in the USA alone. Wow, that sum of money would certainly sort out my pension fund lol
Interesting. The question that springs to mind, is, if, as the blogger states, that this sort of thing is unhealthy and isn't what women want . . . why are half the women in the world reading this book, and then buying the next two? Hmmmm?
