I've pretty much got the upload correct for Kindle devices (have given up on perfecting the paragraph indentions, having already tried everybody's advice on previous threads). Not sure why on Kindle that 2 of my beginning pages (copyright, etc) are spread out on 2 separate pages, when the text is minimal. I did use the Page Break of course, but wondering if the page break should be positioned precisely in a certain spot after the text. Anyway, my main problem now is that nothing shows up on the Kindle Previewer for Touch except an error. And the text for Fire is missing about an inch of the left margin! Any suggestions? Really appreciate it!

So a number of things here.

1. There is an issue with the Kindle Touch mode in Kindle Previewer that produces an error rather than displaying the content normally. Allowing Kindle Previewer access through your firewall seems to fix this most of the time, but occasionally you may still see the error. Re-opening your file appears to fix this in most cases.

2. Do you have a page break between those pages at the beginning in your source file? Manual page breaks will cause text to appear on a new page on Kindle. You can check for these in Word by enabling the "show formatting" option using the ¶ button on the toolbar.

With this option enabled you would want it to look something like this in Word:

copyright 2012 your name¶
cover by whoever¶
licensed for whatever use¶
==== page break ====¶
Start of the next page¶

3. How are you seeing your margins in your source document? When you say it's "missing about an inch of the left margin" do you mean that the text is being clipped about an inch into the paragraphs, or are they not being indented from the left margin as much as you intend, but all of the text is appearing on screen?

Thanks for your help! I believe I've got the margin problem figured out now. And thanks for the tip on Kindle Touch in the Previewer. Appreciate it! Kim
