Why do I keep getting a "fix highlighted errors" message?

I have the paperback version of my book ready to publish but every time I press the publish option, I get a "fix highlighted errors" message but there are no highlighted errors. I have just published my Kindle version without any problem at all and really want to link the two books up but I cannot see where the problem is.
I have been back into the previewer and there are no problems although it does tell me to match up my ISBN details which I have done and also that it has fixed embedded fonts. It says make sure I have filled in all areas of the template but I used a blank template.
Please help as I am at a total loss.
Thanks in advance.

I assume you're working with KDP-print? It's known to be a buggy site, which is why the consensus of American authors is that Create Space is superior. For one thing, CS has live phone help.

(For the Brits, the ease of being able to buy their own books from the UK site and get free shipping with Prime outweighs the disadvantages.)

If you want to persist with KDP-print and find no highlighted issues, you'll have to contact KDP directly and ask what the issue is. Use the Contact Us link at lower right. Good luck!

What cdale said. Or, you could use the opportunity to dodge KDP Print Beta and go over to CreateSpace.

As others have said, you will find this much more satisfactory on CreateSpace. But formatting a print edition is NOT easy. The standards are much higher.

I am having exactly the same problem as Marie. And this is truly frustrating. There is no such thing that I can see as a "Highlighted" Section. I tried to get KDP support but so far no explanation coming back.... This is an Art book with over 100 images, and special fonts. I am not sure if CreateSpace would handle this.

The 'special fonts' may well be your problem.

Since KDP Print is choking on it, what do you have to lose?

CS has been in business for longer than the KDP/DTP, and it works. It also has an excellent community forum, whereas most people here have no idea about formatting for print.

Special fonts shouldn't be a problem in a properly formatted PDF. Look on the "fonts" tab on "document properties" in Acrobat to be sure they're properly embedded. They'll usually be listed as "embedded subset," since they don't normally embed any characters that aren't used in the document. Now, if you're trying to upload a Word file, special characters could be a problem. Word doesn't embed fonts by default, so if you haven't selected that option for the document only fonts that are also resident on the printer's system will work.

A problem you'll sometimes encounter is a font that's only licensed for personal use, but not for general print. Those will work okay when you print from the document, but they won't embed in the PDF. Normally, you should get a warning if that's the case. This is most commonly encountered with display type someone might want to use on a cover.

The support folks told me that my title and sub title did not match the Bowker's ISBN webpage. I fixed it and still same problem. Back to the support team.

Finally the paperback was printed. I ordered the very first copy. It was an amazing feeling to hold the book in hand. Everything from the manuscript was preserved, pictures, fonts, etc... KDP really delivers.

I'm sure you have solved this problem by now, but just wanted to post that I had the same frustrating problem all weekend and tried all sorts of restarting to no avail (suggested by customer support). I finally starting changing the pricing on the Paperback Rights and Pricing page to random amounts and clicking on the amazon.com or amazon.uk options, and after doing that a few times, changed it back to what I had originally priced it for (on amazon.com), and then submitted again, and it went through! Must just be some sort of glitch that wants you to confirm price again?? All I know I was very happy it went through :)

Here's a solution that doesn't involve unpublishing and republishing in CreateSpace (which is BY FAR the number one answer I've seen to this recurring yet easily resolved issue).

I had the same issue today. Frustrated, I came here looking for advice. But all I kept finding was people telling the OP to use CreateSpace instead. Yes, I wish I'd done that in the first place, but I got mixed up and wound up with the KDP print beta. Now I don't want to have the print book in two places. It's just my personal preference.

Then, buried in a thread, I saw someone mention something about the pricing in Japan and it clicked.

I looked at my prices. The Japan price in Yen was lower than the minimum amount. So, I increased it to match the minimum and BAM, it went through fine. There was NO highlighted error, though. That's definitely a bug. I only found the answer by searching this forum.
