I have a question about author ranking. I only have one book that was just released by a publisher on Amazon for paperback and they also released a new kindle version. The original Kindle version I posted is no longer available. I am just now learning about the promotion process as I work it and I am writing the sequel to the next book right now. The reason I am sharing this is that as I put the old version out of circulation my author rating dropped as expected I was never in the top 100,000 anyway. So the book is back up for the last couple of days and I am not really generating any sales yet. Just working on it very hard to let people know it's out there. But today I noticed something a little odd. My author ranking very suddenly jumped from like 500,000 to 190,000. Does that mean anything really? I found this odd because I am not really noticing any book sales yet. What things are factored into author ranking to cause this unexpected, but pleasantly surprising, jump?
